Kings to rescind Curry's QO

maybe to give him more money? Who knows

I'll wait to see what unfolds. this (among other moves) lets me know we must have an agreement or understanding with another team in terms of
trades

That makes no sense, since they can match any offer he would get. They had the upper hand and gave it away, if they were intending to keep him. They have no intention of keeping him, and that is sad considering he's the team's best shooter and they need a backup PG.

Guys, we all just need to chill out for a bit. Vlade and Joerger are both communicating to each other on what sort of team they want to build around Cousins. I can almost guarantee you Vlade has a plan for what he wants this team to look like before the season starts.

We have a lot of expendable pieces to trade and plenty of time to work it out.

Next season we will be a team filled with defensive players who play hard. This means guys like Marco had to leave and I assume Ben is next on the chopping block. I'm sure Rondo would still be here to if he played defense.

The big problem with Kings fans is they make out players to be much better than they really are. Happened when we traded T-Rob for Patrick Peterson. It was happening with Ray last off season and now with Seth. On a good team he is the end of the bencher. We decided to load up on scrappy vets to fill out those positions and provide some direction for the youth we just drafted.

This "end of the bench" player was our best perimeter shooter. That's not an opinion, that's a statistical fact.

So I guess signing Matt Barnes 5 min (really don't know exactly how many min later) didn't have anything to do with it?

We have no idea how the timing of things went down. Public announcements aren't made the second something is done. I tend to believe that these two things weren't mutually exclusive, especially with all the stuff going on. Either way, I'm not going to lose any sleep over Curry. I've said it before and I'll say it again. I trust Vlade, and I trust that he and Coach Joerger are working together to build a team that just might win more than they have in the last decade.

I am done with this team. Seth is pretty much the GOAT. Wtf is Vlade doing? Our third string D-league PG should have been our priority.

His agent asked for the offer to be rescinded.

This is what I don't understand. Who cares what the agent is asking for?

We are down to one point guard. Seth would have gotten good PT next year as the backup pg.

That is why I believe the agent must know the kings have a trade in place for another point guard.

Why else would agent not want his client to get guarenteed playing time next year?

I believe a trade for a significant point guard will be announced Monday or Tuesday. ;)

I think the agent may have wanted to be able to talk to other teams without having to worry about them thinking the Kings just might match their offer.

I do think Vlade has only just begun, but I'm not at all convinced that Seth Curry has ever been a major cog. As Čarolija said above, Kings fans tend to overvalue our end of the bench players. ;)

Well, that is the whole point of having a player be a restricted free agent, isn't it?

I seriously think it was a courtesy offer to begin with. I doubt if the Kings would have matched. But we're arguing hypotheticals when we'll most likely never know for sure. Bottom line is I think we're better tonight with who we're getting than we were this morning with who we might have kept.

GO KINGS!!

There's something to be said about being a front office that plays ball with agents...

Really?

I don't see how allowing a player you rightfully have restricted status on go, Unless you have a backup plan already in place.

Why screw your own team, if you could have used him?

That is why I believe we have a trade in place for another point guard, before this curry move was made.

If we had no intention of signing him, then yes it's a good move for future dealings. Kings have a lot to make up for on the FA market.

Tons of different reasons. I'm not defending him being gone. I wanted him as a backup PG. if we had moved on I think it's Amarth to get us future favors or leverage.

This is my whole point.

How can we had "moved on", if we still don't have a legit backup point guard?

There is absolutely no reason to believe we "move on", from the moves that has been announced.

Therefore, someone on curry side feels that "we moved on" and that is why I think a deal is in place for another point guard.

Usually trades start happening after teams have mostly finished with free agency. It is very possible that the Kings have a trade in place but are waiting for different events to be finalized before the trade happens.

Are we talking about Seth or Steph here? Because I'm getting confused reading some of the reactions.
I wanted him back too, but if we have another plan, that's fine. Who cares. He wasn't the savior of our franchise. A few good games at the end of the year mean very little to me.

I also love how people are sure Valde doesn't know what he's doing, he let our backup PG go without a plan B, we are all going to die!!!!!!! How do you know he doesn't have a plan B? Because we haven't heard anything so far? If I remember correctly, no move we made has been leaked before it happened. I'm pretty sure Vlade noticed this team still needs a PG, I'd be willing to put money on it...

If anything the agent saw guys like Tyler Johnson getting $50mil, saw that we in no way had the money or inclination to be handing out $50mil contracts, called a few teams to test the market, and asked we let him go so he could go prospecting.

I wanted Curry back and think he deserved the shot, but he was probably going to have to prove it all over again for Joerger, doesn't have the defensive length that seems to be typifying all our other moves, and I think this all may look a lot different a year from now when we approach next offseason with the potential to have more capspace than virtually any other team because everybody else was in a rush to throw $15mil at anything that could walk and chew gum.

Errr...Temple has backed up PG more than Seth Curry has played it his whole career.

No one was keeping the agent from prospecting, before Kings spent all the money. Actually now, that there was no cap space left, rescinding QO is a pretty small gesture given the fact, Kings lost the ability to match even $3-4m per anyway. And renouncing his cap hold, that likely came with taking back QO, increased Kings' available space by $1.2m, I believe.
We still have Room Exception to spend btw. If Norris Cole or Tim Frazier can fit into that, I would take any of them rather than rely on ICousins as a third-stringer at PG.
