I still think the perfect solution is to merge the new arena with an Indian casino...which could be done without moving the team anywhere.

ARCO THUNDER VALLEY CASINO & ARENA

:D
Yeah! There's two Indian Casinos in Oroville, move the Kings up here into the Feather River Arena & Casino.

Well, well. The Bee addresses this issue and puts it in better perspective. No threats to leave, quite the contrary, the Maloofs want to stay. But the NBA is a business and not a pleasure toy for the worlds greatest bunch of NBA fans. Having the great fan base helps for sure but $$ is $$.

Arco Arena just doesn't make the money needed for an NBA franchise. Nor is it the attraction a new arena could be to attract other non-sport arena-filling shows and entertainment.

One fact the city seems to ignore is that the Kings only use an arena for 2-4 preseason games, 41 regular season games, 4-12 post season games and 1-2 other events a year or at most 59 nights out of 365 nights a year. That's only 16% per year. Yet the city/county seems to want the Kings to foot the bill for 75% + of the cost of a new arena. Sure, I'd want that too, but no smart business person is going to do that.

The Kings put 17,000+ people in the arena every game. That supports a lot of vendors, staff and others.

Facts are facts. When a city does not support it's NBA team, teams move to a better venue, to a better arena and to a more business like environment. But read the Bee article from April 1 and see the "tepid support..." locally.
