Hmm, usually I wouldn't have judged Diogu for his last big game, but this big game is making me think more and more about letting him loose...

Well, unlike the Nuggets game, I'm not particular enthused about seeing someone put up monster numbers against a front line on Jason Collins, Brian Cardinal, and Mark Madsen (or, in other words, the Minnesota "yes we're tanking and we're damn proud of it" All-Stars). I'm pretty sure CWebb could come out of retirement and put up big numbers against that trio, knee injury and all. But it certainly doesn't hurt his case that he continues to produce when called upon.

How do you let Diogu walk after this game!? I mean, I don't care what time of year it is, or who he's playing against, that sweet jumper alone should keep this guy around. He's doing things that he was doing his rookie year except now it's all coming together.

I say bring him back!

may 19th draft lottery here we come!

man, I am glad to be back, even if it is TDOS.

that's crazy, it's TDOS.

^ Ike has many fans apparently...

Agree with all you say. Yet, as of now, with our 3 picks, we shall have only 11 players. We need to sign at least 2 guys to meet the league minimum requirement.

One option could be to get veteran character guys, who can teach the kids to be pros, and slide over to assistant coaching positions later. Alternatively, we could go for young guys, who might have a role in future.

Offering Ike a small contract is relatively risk free, particularly, if we don't land Griffin or Thabeet. We will need some more bodies up front, and if Ike can be had for cheap, why not?

Man, you know something is up with a frontline of Madsen, Collins, and Cardinal. I mean, super tank mode. Jeez are all three such awful, awful, awful players. If the Kings couldn't win this give me, than I'd be worried about our future. I mean, Collins? Starting?!? Disgusting.

Edit: I love the recap on NBA.com about McHale's decision for his starters.

McHale started veterans Brian Cardinal, Mark Madsen, Jason Collins, Mike Miller and Kevin Ollie to reward them for their consistent hard work and good attitudes in what has been a long, long season.

If you read either of the 're-sign Ike' threads in the Personnel Moves forum, you'd see that I'm a big supporter of giving this kid a contract. He was the player I most wanted from that draft actually, so I've been a fan for a long time. I agree with you that a small contract is relatively risk free and our frontcourt rotation as currently stands, is still pretty thin. A guy who can score consistently in the paint and grab rebounds in limited minutes could be an important part of the rotation. And we need all the young talent we can get. But I also want to be fair. Minnesota was trying to lose this game. Doesn't mean Ike wasn't trying and doing a lot of good, it just means the numbers need to be put in context, like always.

Only a small portion of Diogu's points were against those scrubs mentioned earlier. Most were against the likes of Kevin Love and Craig Smith. Once I actually read the lips of Kevin Love and he said (referring to Ike) "Who is this guy?!"
