Martin wasnt part of the offense consistently. Had 12 points on 3-4 shooting in the first quarter. I don't like the way theus's offense is going away from martin. Martin was aggresive in the first quarter and had a good all around stat line. Didn't get the opportunities in the last 3 quarters. That seems to be a constant theme. Martin needs more shots and more opportunities. He rarely forces a bad shot but when he gives up the ball he never touches it again. It seems that kevin isn't being used in the right way and 2 out of every 3 games he isn't involved down the stetch. That would be acceptable if someone else was hot and carrying the team. Instead kevin is in the corner watching teamates go 1 on 1 and force terrible shots.

If by contend you mean cause a little trouble for some people to exit before the finals, then yes they can contend. See the Suns have gotten deep in the playoffs, so anything less than a trip to the finals and a win is a failure and not really acceptable by any means to the team and the fans, so I consider anything less NOT contending.
If Gasol comes back from his ankle sprain before or during the playoffs it's all over. It will be The Lakers and either The Celtics or Detroit in the finals. Kobe is Shaq's Kryptonite. Any player that played with a player long enough knows all their tendencies, and how to take everything that they are good at away from them.
That can also happen with a coach that coached a player long enough. There is no better example than this than last year's first round match-up between the Mavericks and Warriors. Don Nelson knew how to kill Nowitzki.

Thank goodness I missed this game. From the stats John did nothing while logging in 23 minutes. He did get 2 assists but so did Quincy.
