[Game] Kings @ Spurs 11/11/24 5pm PST, 8pm EST

This is your pet theory. What's obvious to me when watching this team is that they'll waste 5 possessions in a row trying to get one 3pt shot to fall when they have two players who are almost automatic inside the arc once they get in rhythm. Chasing after 3s is what's killing our offense.
Alright, explain how taking more middy's is going to close a -10 3PM gap? And explain how we're "chasing 3's" when we're 23rd in 3PA this season?

edit: sorry -11 3PM

I mean, how many games do we have to go before we stop shooting so many threes. I get it, you have to shoot to keep up in today’s NBA. But this team can’t hit anything right now, possessions would be much better served going to our efficient two pointers from DDR, Sabonis and Fox.

And still, one of the missing ingredients is post play. Keegan was supposed to get touches there. So far, what like 2 this season? lol. This team is very predictable in the sense that they are going to face you up and look to create like 95% of the time.

Both of these can be true though, you have guys that can score easy baskets inside and yet you keep chucking. Lead is 2-3 possessions if you make some easy twos instead of giving up 5 or 6 straight empty possessions.

Because a steady trickle of made 2pt baskets is better than a barrage of missed 3pt attempts with 1 or two makes per quarter. The 3pt gap does not matter, the poor overall FG% and low FT attempts do.

We take the 7th most 2P FG's. We take the 7th most FTA. We take the 23rd most 3PA. Us "chucking 3's" is just not true, in any sense. Sorry man, your point is just wrong. The problem with this team is we're fighting a giant 3PM gap every single game now. Something's got to give with our 3pt shooting AND our 3pt defense.

But we aren’t making twos tonight either
We've made 27 2pt baskets against 9 3pt baskets. I don't think the solution here is to shoot less 2's and more 3's when we're 28th in the league in 3pt percentage. There is a psychological effect to seeing the ball go in the net over and over again (we saw it last night in OT) and we really need to be taking advantage of it more.

And the reality is our 2pt percentage and free throw percentage might not be sustainable either. Can’t expect Deebo to make the middy at that rate all season and we have some historically average free throw shooters on the team. Those numbers could come down. Bottom 5 three pointers in attempts and makes = fired coach, traded players and no playoffs.

100% this. We needed the boom or bust gimmick 2 years ago. Now that we have DeMar we don't need it anymore and I think it shows a real lack of awareness that we're still leaning on an offensive game plan that no longer maximizes the strength of this roster.

It's probably not. The FTA could be, just because DDR is one of the best in the league at it. Just like this shooting isn't sustainable either and due for some seriously positive regression.

It's the singular problem coaches need to figure out right now. Just getting roasted on both ends at the 3pt line. Everything else is mostly pretty good.
