On paper, the Kings should win this game. Murray > Fox. Sabonis > Poetl. The gap between Sabonis and Poetl is bigger than the gap between Murray and Fox. The role players are about the same quality. And though the Kings had plane issues, the flight from NO to SA is like an hour. But the Kings are +6.5. Tempting, but I'm not taking it, because Pop is going to crowd the paint and laugh hysterically as Fox and Sabonis eat up 70% of the team's usage in the restricted area. And produce subpar efficiency because neither can shoot.

Whether Sabonis can effectively shoot jumpers or not, his efficiency should not be in question. His TS% this year is .639 in comparison to a league-average .561. If Sabonis uses up ALL of the team's usage in the restricted area, that's fine with me.

Kings fans: I’m so tired of watching this team losing
Also kings fans: I’m also tired of this team winning and ruining our draft position.”

I guess they found out not showing up and forfeiting the rest is the season to please all the fans wasn’t an option.

Well now we’re not winning and committed to not building thru the draft too

Whenever I see the Kings play the Spurs I'm reminded why coaching is still important in the NBA. The Spurs always have a plan and they make adjustments in the second half based on how the flow of the game is going. They're not always the most talented team but they always play hard and come into the game prepared. These are just baseline qualities that every team should have but a shockingly large number of them don't.

Well, we'll see Fox and Sabonis there tonight and for rest of their time together. And the Kings will have more losses than wins, because this isn't the 1990s.

That's nice and all, but since the Kings went into win-now mode, the coaches that Gentry has played against were Malone (2x), Finch (1), Unseld Jr (1), Nash (1), Daigenault (1), and Green (1). Malone is the only coach with a resume that can match Gentry's.

John Wooden often said that talent trumped coaching. The losing is a talent issue. The only player on the Kings, who should be off the table this off season is Sabonis.

Looking forward to the off-season when McNair hires a new coach, drafts another young stud, and trades Holmes for value (like the Bagley trade). The remainder of the season is probably going to be more of the same - glimpses of the talent increase where you see the potential, but stretches of incompetence on the floor because of inadequate coaching. Hopefully, the players won't get soured by the current coaching and will be rejuvenated during the summer. Weirdly enough, I'm fairly optimistic going forward because of what I've seen from McNair so far.

Fox strikes me as one of those dudes like Booker, DeRozen, or Lavine....

"Empty stats" until they get surrounded with better players and coaching and all of a sudden they're powering the offenses of top flight teams.

I still maintain it's hard to judge our best players with such a gap in talent on this roster between our top 2-3 guys and the rest along with typically horrendous coaching. So yes, I'll be holding out hope that McNair can put something around Fox and Sabonis.

inb4 the "but Fox isn't nearly as good as those players" crowd has at me with this post.... At the moment, I'd agree, but Fox still has room to grow. Both he and Sabonis.

All that being said, I'm definitely back on my tank ****. So here's to a lotto bolstering loss along with strong games from our franchise cornerstones!

i swear if we win this game imma be livid. Literally got a chance to get Keegan Murray/AJ Griffin or better if we get lucky in the lotto
If we get lucky in the lotto we can be in various spots and it wouldn't matter. Even if we had the worst record we still would be expected to pick 4th based on lotto odds. What if we lose this game, finish one game ahead (lower) of some other team pre-lottery, and then the other team gets the #1 pick? Are you going to fret that we should have won one more game instead?

Quit freaking out about it. It is what it is, and giving yourself an aneurysm over basketball is just stupid.

Poverty franchise needs every percent and I’m numb like most of us are lol

Pretty sure that subtraction of points was from the Lyles dunk at the end of the shot clock. The ref under the basket indicated that they would review it, but I thought that wouldn't happen until the commercial break, not sure why they did it at like the third non-commercial stoppage after it happened.

You're not sure why they made a late change that didn't favor the Kings?

Careful, this is dangerously close to being complimentary of Fox. You're going to ruin your rep.

Nah, that's easy enough. Not sure why they skipped several bad opportunities to do it, then did it at another bad opportunity, with a good opportunity coming up.
