Hello Kings fans, I have had the privilege of getting to watch Donald Sloan grow and develop over the last four years. He started out as a four star recruit who backed up our highest drafted and best player ever Acie Law. As a freshmen, all we needed him to do was be a spark off the bench, and he did more. It seemed all he knew was get to the basket and finish. That ended up being his identity for his four years in college. He was our starting PG his sophomore and junior years, but he was not a PG at that time. He was not the best at creating for himself, and he would often be turnover prone from trying too hard to make something happen with little help.
Last year, he got moved to SG to try and open him up a little bit. The move paid huge dividends as he became one of the best scorers in the best conference. He had a true PG setting him up, and he was much better at creating for himself. At the end of the shot clock, everyone knew who they ball was going to, and he still did his thing.
Donald Sloan is one of the strongest players I have seen play in college. He doesn't get a lot of calls, and its because he doesn't budge much when you hit, slap, push, and hold him. He just keeps going toward the basket. Every night he would work out with two friends in a gym here in College Station. All he would do is drive the basket. His friends would do nothing but hack, slap, hit, push, shove.. ANYTHING to throw him off. his job was to find a way to make the basket.
Can you see the theme of toughness here? Add to that that he lost his mom during the NCAA tournament a couple years ago, and that his best friend and teammate (and second leading scorer on the team last year) went down with a
freak Theisman like injury leaving Donald to carry the team and you can see the footprint of a guy who fights through everything no matter what, and never quits.
Just about everyone was saying this kid was going overseas. Every day his facebook status had something to do with working harder and not giving up.
Not only do you guys have a natural scorer joining the team, but you have an outstanding person who is likely to give back to and support the community. You will never see him lose it or get in a fight. He might have been a boxer, but he is the most respectful, calm-tempered person to ever come out of our basketball program. There was only one time where he came close to snapping, but he did it with his play. Baylor fans had been heckling, throwing trash, and their players had been throwing bows, hacking, and playing like a bunch of buffoons.
Donald ended their night for them, and you can tell by the announcers reaction that it was well deserved.
Seriously, he is one of the best players to ever come through our program. We dont have the best history, but we have had a lot of good players over the last five years, but none with more character.
Here are some more vids of Donald doing his thing..

Things he will wow you with: Toughness, strength, vision, ball-handling
Things he might frustrate you with: Trying to do too much, free throw inconsistency, defense (hes pretty good, just nothing special)
