Kings sign Ramon Sessions

Why would we be going small and putting Sessions @ the 2 when we have two young talented SG's we are trying to develop unless they are trading one of them? If that's the reason we bough Sessions in that's stupid since we are not in a win now situation and we should be doing everything we can to develop Mclemore/Nik by giving them game time. Sessions should either be used as the primary back up or starter depending on his/Collisons play @PG. All the SG mins should go to the two youngsters imo, giving Sessions mins at the two makes no sense to me.
I see depth chart as

SG Ben, Nick, Ramon
PG Darren, Ramon, Ray

Yes It has been mentioned that Kings see sessions him as a Combo Guard

Unless Ben is traded or if either Ben or Nik is injured or fails so very bad, I don't think Sessions will play SG
He will be primary backup PG unless a Collision injury promotes him to first string

Last year Malone gave McLemore a lot of playing time to develop and go through growing pains. It's going to be interesting to see if Malone is as forgiving this coming year. My hunch is that McLemore better come out guns ablazing in the first 10 games or he's going to get a quick hook. I could see McCallum as an option, not just Sessions.

i agree with this assessment of the guard rotation

What's with people saying Collison is sure fire starter? If he is starting for us we won't be winning over 35 games and that's being generous. I said Collison will start and I'm saying he will lose his starting job to Sessions. Just cause you made a mistake of overpaying Collison does not mean you have to start him, cause we give Landry 6 mil per season does that mean he should play more than JT and Reggie? I don't think so. Jeremy Lin was getting 8+million a season and they replaced him with some unknown guy making under 1 mil in Beverly what you get paid has no bearing on playing time.

While Sessions is a score first PG I have seen him in the past switch his game up to penetrate (which he probably does better than anyone on our roster) and dish fairly well. Sessions is not Garry Neal or someone like that where he's not skilled enough to slightly switch his game up.
Landry didn't play because he was injured most of the season, when he did return he just didn't look like he was meant to play at all for the year. Neither Collison or Sessions should be starting for this team but since we have both we have to start one of them and I'd rather go with Collison just due to the fact that he played behind Paul and you hope he picked up his play by playing for a playoff team where as Sessions has been a journeyman up to this point.

Your assuming that one or both are playing well...speaking of the young SGs. They are now prepared to go with a vet if need be. And the FO wants to win now...whether they are prepared to win, all these small moves are aimed and winning.

Me personally, I'm hedging against the SGs struggling and like the signing and see both Sessions and Ray getting PT. going small for situational minutes is part of the NBA now and it's what our FO and coach will do when they deem it necessary.

I personally think Nik won't struggle except for defense. Comming off the bench teams still have to respect Landry/Sessions as scores and I think Nik will hit 3s on a very good percent. Ben struggled with 3s last year the minute he played summer league and continued to the fall. Nik was the opposite a scorching 47% you also add in his basketball IQ, handles and his Kobe like demeanor and confidence in how own game and I think he could be all rookie 1st team in a good class.
Hopefully he can match other recent shooters in there rookie seasons

Thompson: 4.1 (41%)
Beal: 4.2 (38.6%)

I was looking at his college stats Nik shooting 44% on 6 tries is unbelievable when you consider he wasn't spotting up and was a primary dribbler.

No I'm not , I'm assuming we have no choice atm but to develop them, if both suck you have to keep playing them, that's the position we are in currently. Playing Ray/Sessions at SG will do nothing for this team moving forward. Unless we pull off a trade for a All-Star level player (which puts us in a position for a 5-8th seed) we have no options but to develop both Ben and Nik (who outside of Cousins are the only young players with real upside), doing anything else is just a waste of time.

Both of them struggling is highly likely but cutting there playing time as a result would be a huge mistake right now. They should be splitting all the 48 mins at the 2 spot between those two guys. We have to find out if both can play at the NBA level and what there potential is. We have nothing to lose by playing Mclemore/Nik/Williams over the likes Casspi, Sessions and whoever.
