Kings sign Landry (part 2)

I don't get the ESPN Insider but my son does. It is reported by one of the ESPN writers that the acquisition of Landry was one of the worst off season deals in the NBA. I think it would break every rule of honor in the NBA to pull the deal with Landry but it WOULD right a terrible wrong. I like Carl. I don't like Carl on the Kings what with PPat, JT, etc, etc. It seems absurd to announce the new culture of sharing the ball and point (pun intended) to Greivis and then follow it up with the anti-Greivis. No sense, at all. Maybe Vivek and PDA are trying to gracefully exit this deal by negotiating something with Carl to not look so foolish. To me, even if they looked like untrustworthy boobs, backing out of the Landry deal would be OK with me.

Turning Tyreke into Vasquez (good) and Landry (hideous) plus a little money is a lousy bullet to bite for some of us. For those of you who think Landry makes any sense, think again. At least try to explain it to the rest of us.

Has it been brought up that both our PFs are currently better than Landry, way better.
Playing Marcus Thornton at the 4 would be just as good as Landry. You only lose a couple inches of height, and they bring the exact same thing to the table (black hole scorers who do absolutely nothing else). The defense and rebounding would be a wash.

IF it makes any sense (not saying it does because I don't know as much as many others here) - it seems that it could make sense as a pre-cursor to a trade of the redundant pieces, and it would be primarily about bringing in a Malone disciple in the locker room.

If they don't move JT or Patterson, it is terrible. Even the most ardent PDA defender will agree it is horrible if it is not parlayed into some other deal involving one of the other guys. But if it is a swap for a Malone true believer in the locker room, then I don't mind it a bit.

Haven't looked, but that would be one instance where insider is correct.

Exactly.

That is Landry.

A midget PF, a blackhole in offense, and one who just wants to score and does not want to defend.

The version of Thornton at PF position.

I thought Malone wants us to be a defense-oriented team?

PDA, please explain.

He had ACL injuries at Purdue. He missed a year in college as a medical redshirt because of the injuries.

That is why he dropped to the 2nd round of the NBA draft that year.
Oh, ok. Thought I had missed something.

Obviously it would be real left field speculation to think that some problem with his knees from 8 years ago was suddenly flaring up to derail a contract for him. We had him here just a couple of years ago, we know those knees, or at least the old regime did. And the new regime had him as a player just last year, in fact likely why he was signed at all..

The old regime also approved shareef abdur rahim's knees after the nj nets backed out of their verbal agreement with SAR.

dallas just backed out of a verbal agreement with devin Harris because of a failed physical. Maybe landry's knees won't last the 4 year contract and their doctors nix the length of the deal.
