Kings sign George Hill 3 years $57 mil..

Count me in too. Hill and Randolph bring talent, toughness and vast experience with them. Not only will they help the team win now, they're near perfect role models for the young kids.

Not sure how I feel about this.

I like Hill but I don't know about a 3 year deal especially when Jackson is the only SF on the roster.

Mixed feelings about this one.

In terms of the type of veteran you want teaching the kids, then Hill is probably as good as you are going to get. A late first round pick who was a very important part of the Spurs. Got traded to Indiana because Spurs could not pay him as much as he would have cost and it got them the opportunity to get Leonard.

Good pro, gritty player, plays hard all the time, very good defender....will be a great mentor. Also like that it is essentially a 2 year deal with an option for 3rd. Fox and Mason can learn a LOT from this guy as he has had to work of everything he got and has come through Popovich's school.

BUT he is very injury prone. He played 49 games last season but if he is healthy, he takes a lot of playing time away from Fox and Mason.

Why do we need Hill? Unless we plan to play Bogdan full time at SF? Right now we have Hill/Bogdan/Fox/Mason/Hield/Temple/Richardson and who else?

There has to be a trade coming. That is WAY TOO MANY guards!!!

I guess Hield, Fox, Bogdan, Temple, Hill will all probably get the most of the time. Temple to SF? Bogdan as well? That would leave Fox, Hill and Hield getting most of the time.

There has to be a trade coming up. We have too many guards lol.

Not sure why they didnt wait to see what happens with thw otto porter offer if this. Is hate to loose the chance to land him in order to sign hill. Dont mind the Hill deal otherwise

League is trending smaller.

Many of those will transition into SF in the next several years as they mature and league gets smaller.

SF is a dying position as we knew it. In today's NBA ball handling and shooting are taking precedent. Even centers are expected to be able to handle and shoot.

SF is just becoming another guard position that's a bit bigger and can switch defensively on a PF sometimes.

Since we haven't heard anything from the front office, we don't know what they did or didn't hear about Otto Porter. My best guess is the Kings were told that Porter wouldn't be signing the offer sheet, but they weren't going to formally turn it down because it helps the Porter people get the best possible offer for their client.

There's a big difference between too many guards, which you might think we have, and too many POINT guards which we definitely do NOT have.

I really like this move.

You couldn't rely on 2 rookie pg to lead a team. Could have been laughable outcomes in a stacked west. Sure there is depth chart problems. Mason probably starts in G league. Have flexibility to withstand injuries.

Does anybody know yet how much of the 3rd year is guaranteed? Really hoping it's similar to Afflalo/Tolliver (1.5-2 mil).

He's a difference maker. The year before this last one Jazz had a losing record, and the record with/without Hill was big

This signing sure surprised me. I thought for sure we wouldn't go for this kind of Vet given that we drafted Fox and Mason. With that said it doesn't bother me at all. He's a savvy vet and given his injury history we'll probably still see and need plenty of Mr. Fox.

I have seen nothing so far. I'm as interested in that number as the rest of you, so if I see it I'll let you know.
I'm reserving judgement on the signing until I see it.

I'm not in love with bringing in someone as good as Hill to be the veteran mentor (at the expense of our pick next year). I would have rather seen guys like Lawson or Mack be in this role, but if Vlade was at least able to maintain a lot of cap space for the 2019 offseason, that's a good consolation prize.

If only 1-2 mil is guaranteed, that leaves us with about $70 mil in cap space that offseason (if Cauley-Stein doesn't get a QO) with these players still under contract:

PG - Fox / Mason
SG - Hield / Bogdanovic / Richardson
SF - Jackson
PF - Labissiere / Giles
C - Papagiannis
Picks - 2018 1st rounder / 2018 2nd rounder / 2019 2nd rounder
