Dukan is currently the 14th player on the Kings bench. I found a nice article on his SL production and an analysis of his time spent at Wisconsin:

A couple of quotes:

"Dukan played well in Las Vegas averaging 9.2 points and 2.4 rebounds through his five games played. He shot 43.8% from the field and 41.7% from three-point range."

"Having an understanding of when to cut, when to pass, when to shoot, and which direction to go off of a screen can get you pretty far in the game."

"If there was one thing that you would learn from playing under Bo Ryan at Wisconsin it would be how to play the game of basketball correctly."

I totally agree with this post. The one thing I didn't bring up in my post about Dukan, was that he never seemed out of place on the floor. That might not seem like a big thing, but its the little things that help you win games. Knowing how to space the floor and create lanes. To automatically screen for cutters without the ball. Setting back screens to open up the basket. Those are the kind of things that Dukan did. They don't show up in the box score, but they matter. As stated above, he knows how to play the game properly and I'm sure that, along with his shooting stroke, helped the Kings make a decision on him.

It is actually, specifically, something Vlade mentioned when talking about his signing, as well. I know I am a little obsessed with it, but I think Vlade has been quite masterful in assembling, not just talent and culture guys, but also guys with actual basketball IQ. We have long been pretty thin in that department. We have had guys with raw talent, some of whom, quite frankly, surprised me in their ability to find their way TO the arena for games. (I may actually be giving them too much credit here, perhaps the Kings sent a car, or they had drivers) In any event, talent and wanting to win only get you so far. Actually understanding the game and working, not just harder, but smarter will get you further.

How much will Dukan make?

How much would Hedo make?

Who here is more confident in Dukan's <10 minutes on the floor, compared to Hedo's?

I always remember that phrase that Coachie used to say. "The strong take from the weak, and the smart take from the strong." A lot of truth in that statement. However having some talent helps. Right now, on paper everything looks positive. But, the proof is in the pudding as they say. So we'll see.. As for myself, I intend to spend the rest of the summer believing that we have a playoff team. Plenty of time later to destroy that dream.

Hmm where have I seen that quote before? ;)

In the grand scheme of things the 14th man doesn't make a dent short term, but I doubt he has the talent level to compete.
He put up Bonner numbers n college, while Bonner was a star. There aren't a lot of college role players in the nba. Honestly would be impressed if Dukan can be productive in the dleague.

Me. Give me the young kid over the grandpa who had to walk 20 miles in the snow to the basketball court back in his day.

Rondo, Collison
Ben, Belinelli
Gay, Casspi, Butler
WCS, Acy
Cousins, Koufous

That's 11 guys who i'd be giving comfortable minutes to. We don't need deep bench options to turn to. While savy old vets at the end of the bench are valuable, I'm much more preferential towards loading up on kids who might turn into an NBA player someday.

Same, but we don't know. And there's the kicker. However small a chance, Dukan MIGHT turn into something at one point. I want as many chances as possible to snag a Danny Green or Jeremy Lin. Guys like Hedo are done and are there just for vet mentor support.
