One of the things I loved about last years draft was that it was clear that Petrie decided that a change in temperment and attitude was in order.
He drafted a physically imposing beast in Tyreke to man the PG spot. He drafted a fiery competitor in Casspi, and he drafted a rugged bruiser in Brockman.
I think we can all agree that the move away from the finesse and towards the physical is a fantastic sign for this team.
With that in mind, I wouldn't be surprised if Petrie continues to build this team with players possessing tough, gritty mentalities. And it wouldn't shock me if a decision was made regarding a top 4 pick on some of those competitive attributes.
I've said repeatedly that if I had my choice I'd take Evan Turner as his size, defense, ball-handling skills, passing, and ability to play off the ball would work perfectly next to Tyreke. I think it could easily be the best PG/SG combo in the entire league by the end of the year.
But if Petrie decided to go with Cousins (who I love) to be a physically imposing big man, or with Favors who's got great athleticism and defensive potential, or with Wall who is probably the most athletically gifted and explosive of the top four, then I won't have any problems with that.
I think Petrie will conduct the interviews and work-outs and try to find the player who has the best chance to make this team great. I have my preferences, but I don't have access to all of the information.
Regardless, if we end up with a top 4 pick we can easily consider this last year to be one of the best years in a very long time and there can't be anything but extreme optimism going forward into the summer.
