Kings salary situation

Entity

Hall of Famer
If stand pat and sign Tyreke to 11 mil a year that would put us at 45.6 mil. that is still 13 mil under the cap. We can then sign Iggs to 13 mil a year putting us right at the cap. we can then sign our rookies and fillers and go about 6-7 mil over the cap. so assuming we are in then in 64 mil range after that. End of the season we let Salmons and Jimmer walk as they are team options. dropping us down to under the cap again by 4 mil.

Then you got the annual raises which would take us to about at the cap or over around 60 mil. Cousins gets maxed out raising him about 7 mil a year more so we are at 67 mil again.

All that to say this. I don't understand why everybody is worried about staying at the cap or around it. We will never win staying at the cap. we have to go over way over like 12-15 mil over to even be in the top 10 nba salaries with the bigs dogs.

Also all this money I am talking about is not using any amnesty or trading Thornton. so Salmons and Thornton are on the rost for 15 mil this year and 8.5 next year. factor in amnesty or trades with that we could still middle pack in salary.

So sign Tyreke, sign Iggy, even sign a shot blocker to the MLE at 6 mil. The owners have the money if they want to win they have to spend it. You worry about the cap you lose

i would rather trade thorton for one...and i dont think we could sign Iggy before our rookies cause our rookies have a cap hold i believe, so we wouldnt have 13 mil in cap space

2nd round picks aren't garanteed. we don't have to sign him at all. 7th pick starts at like 2-3 mil. Like I said this is not using amnesty. I would like to retain Salmons for this season for backup role. We could amnesty Outlaw to negate the rookie cap hold.

I think you dropped a 10 in your calculation. Current salaries ($42M) + Tyreke at $11M + McLemore at $2.4M is about $55.4M.

Our current salary is taking into account the Qualifying offer to Evans for 7 mil. the 42 is including this so to get to 11 thats + 5 mil not +11. you are correct i didn't factor draft pick in as i didn't realize the cap hold. but not it is not 42 mil plus 11. tyreke walks we are at 35 mil.

No. We are at $42 million if we let Reke walk for nothing. The QO is not included in our current cap number

Got a calculator handy?

Salmons ($7,583,000) + Thornton ($8,050,000) + Hayes ($5,722,500) + Thompson ($5,643,750) + Cousins ($4,916,974) + Outlaw ($3,000,000) + Fredette ($2,439,840) + Patterson ($3,105,302) + Thomas ($884,293) + Evans ($11,000,000) + McLemore ($2,413,300) + Buyout of Brooks ($674,196) = $55,433,155.

Try it.

This is correct. I pride myself on working personnel scenarios around the salary cap. If we had as much room the OP was suggesting, it would have been much easier to develop my posts.

I guess Entity needs to hit the drawing board again :p

By rule we cannot amnesty Outlaw.

Which brings me to this man:

Los+Angeles+Lakers+v+Sacramento+Kings+Gc_zA9YUoepl.jpg

If we're going to go so far as to bring in our arch enemy Shaq to mentor our young center, then I think its more than called for to bring in a mentor in how to be long, skinny, and useless.

Well fu** why are we even talking to Iggy? Or anybody else for that matte. hoping they sign for 3 mil a year?

Now I'm depressed

i was using Hoopshype salary for sacramento. assumed that the bottom line included the qulifying offer. I'm sorry. I posted all that ish for nothing. so pretty much unless we trade Thornton or iggy and iggy+tyreke isn't happening.

So pretty much any addition other than macklemore to our current roster that is significant is going to revolve around a trade of thornton and/or the amnesty of slamons.

If they match Evans at $11 starting salary year 1, not average then that takes up to around $56 mil if we amnesty salmons that's another $7.5 mil. So depending on the salary cap it would be somewhere in the $7.5 - $9.5 mil range left. Plus we will sign McCallum and we would need to sign another player to make it 13, but they can be a min contract and go over the cap.

Once the draft passed, I knew there wasn't going to be a good chance at signing Iguodala if we resign Evans. I was thinking we could shed contracts by trading back or trading Thomas and/or Fredette for picks, but of course when McLemore falls into your lap you don't do that. I'm still upset we didn't get a pick out of Fredette though.

Anwyays, if we resign Evans to 11 mil a year (and assuming the first year in his contract is 11 mil) we will have a total payroll of 55.4 mil as Capt mentioned. If you amnesty Salmons, that brings it down to 47.8 mil. That's around 10 mil in cap space. If you move Fredette for a future pick, you're sitting at 45.3 mil with around 13 mil in cap room. That could be enough to sign Iguodala. The question if Iguodala is worth a contract that starts at 13 mil is another conversation entirely.

just not your day lol

LMAO. No didn't just type macklemore. thats funny as crap. I am a DJ so i run across that alot here in the last 6 months.
Maclemore geez. I am just gonna lurk the rest of the night and type only yes or no responses.

If we retained Evans at 11m/year I think Vivek would probably be willing to Amnesty Salmons if it meant we could get AI...but you'd probably need to clear more salary to make it happen.
I'd rather not throw Thornton into a S&T but it might be required if we not able to somehow rid ourselves of some smaller contracts. (Outlaw/Jimmer/ect.)

But if you're not going to Amnesty Salmons or trade Thornton then there really isn't any realistic way of getting both Tyreke & AI together.

yes that seems like the only way

Can I get a clarification? Can't we sign Tyreke, McCallum, and McLemore after we sign Andre assuming we can find room under the cap for Andre. I thought signing our RFA and draft picks were exceptions that allow us to go ove the salary cap. I don't know if it makes a difference but I'm curious as it seems a lot if not most people think we have to sign Tyreke first. As his cap hold is around $13 mil and the assumed salary for next year is $11 mil, the 11 and 13 don't offer a whole lot of advantage to signing Tyreke first.

I hope people don't think we have to stay under the salary cap and that is the goal. Going over the salary cap has it's own set of rules but it's not the luxury cap that punishes with taxes.

BTW, I hope people don't think that trading Thornton automatically opens up a lot of money as we have to trade and take somebody back.

not sure how we could get enough room under the cap to sign dre..

I vote sign Tyreke. Amnesty Salmons. Trade some mix of Jimmer/Thornton/JT/PPat for Gortat. Grab a cheap roleplaying D and 3 SF.

I just don't see Iguodala coming here for anything we can afford.
