A bit more of insight on what others (players and coaches) think of Tyreke. As point guard Flynn said to a ref when he was playing Tyreke the other night, "I didn't know I was to be guarding Lebron James!". Boy are the Kings lucky this year. And Omri seeing more time at the 3 with Tyreke is great as well. :D:D

That was pretty funny, and he said it to the REF of all people, not his coach or another player. That goes to show you that not only are the players noticing him, the REFS ARE TOO.

I wanted Flynn predraft, and still think he's going to be a player.

But needless to say, I'm happy we went with Reke instead. :p

Wow, we were all ready to slit our wrists when we ended up with the 4th pick in the lottery but I am so thankful that we ended up with that pick. I suspect that GP had Evans #2 on his board anyway, but at this point I'm glad we got Evans instead of Griffen.

Hard to argue with 20-5-5. Statistically he might be in the top 15. We drafted 4th/60(~90%tile) and got a player that is in the 98th percentile of the entire NBA. All this team needs is a consistent big that can shoot the 15 footer. Webber is available, and he would probably be an upgrade from KT.

That last line about getting a trainer because he wanted to get stronger. Wanted to be the best. That's scary stuff right there. It shows his ability and his dedication to knowing and wanting to adapt to the game or other players so he can be the best that he can be. He's even done it in this young season; adapting to how the league has adapted to guarding him. The sky is the limit for this kid. And I'm ready to fly as high as possible with him ;)

tyreke evans is going to be a beast. plain and simple. he's not just an all-star level talent. at 20 years old, he's already got superstar potential. its frightening just how good he could be in a few years...

i feel awfully foolish when i look back at draft day. i rolled my eyes at the worst-case-scenario 4th pick the kings received. i wanted blake griffin. but i rejoiced as ricky rubio unexpectedly fell to the kings. then i screamed at the television as they selected tyreke evans, and rolled my eyes again as the timberwolves selected not one, but two PG's, including ricky rubio, with the 5th and 6th picks, while the kings were stuck with a tweener off-guard who wasn't a natural point, wasn't terribly athletic, wasn't a superior ballhandler, wasn't an innate passer, but could score on a team already loaded with scorers at the guard positions...

ha! right.

i've been wrong many times before, but rarely do i just get SCHOOLED when it comes to predicting the trajectory of certain nba-level talents. tyreke evans has SCHOOLED me somethin' fierce, and i couldn't be happier as a kings fan. :)

and, in general, i absolutely LOVE the fact that one of the "weakest draft classes" in recent memory is likely going to turn out to be one of the strongest draft classes in recent memory. i honestly believe tyreke evans is going to be the best player of the class, but there are a lot of potential all-stars in-the-making, especially amongst the guards...

I'm in the same boat.
In our defense, I don't think anyone on this entire board expected Tyreke to be this good so early in his career. Dude is clearly the savior of Sacramento Kings basketball.

I was listening to the draft on the radio on my break.....heard Memphis go....then OKC.....and Rubio was right there for the taking!!! My break was over, so I ran back to my desk to follow the draft live so I could revel in the picking of Rubio and......WTF???? EVANS???!?!?!?!? WTF IS PETRIE THINKING?????? I had to walk away, take a breather, just get away. I walked aimlessly for about 5 minutes then made my way back to my desk. Then I sat down and started doing research. Then I jumped on his bandwagon as quickly as I could.

I think I made a good decision at that point, but I KNOW Petrie made a better one today.

Imagine how smug that inglorious bastard has to be right now. "Yeah, of course they want to extend my contract," as he blows steam on his nails and brushes them off on his breastplate, "I drafted Evans AND Omri. Ha!"

"I wasn't really a natural point," he said. "I was more like a point guard/two guard, I could bring the ball up. Now I know how to run a team better, create passes, things like that."

Please make me say I was wrong Tyreke! Continue your dominant play.

I have given up trying to out GM Petrie. He is such a fantastic judge of young talent, there is no way I could read enough online and see enough games to be able to keep up with Petrie. So in Petrie I trust! He has made so many good draft picks that the fact that Evans might be the best in this draft class doesn't surprise me. What DOES surprise me is HOW GOOD he is! This was supposed to be a weak draft. That dont look weak!
