[Game] Kings @ Raptors 1/4/2012

ya thats definitly part of the problem

Hayes was playing decent defense earlier this year. now hes just beyond worthless. i dont get it

Well when he gets put in he's usually with a combination of Aaron brooks, Thornton, and Jimmer who just bomb it from outside and can't defend taller players. He's usually paired with James Johnson or T-Rob who both can't rebound against centers. So that leaves hayes to try and gather rebounds on both sides of the court against a center who is bigger than him 99% of the time. His defense is fine but he can't do anything else. He needs to be with Cousins or Jt to be useful.

ya i agree. if your gonna give him minutes, it HAS to be with another good rebounder. u would think an NBA coach would realize that

Oh, now we get JT in because Cousins going out. Smart is trying to find ways to negate our size advantage with a JT + Cousins line.

once again a complete fail in the first 5 minutes of the 2nd quarter. Kings would have a nice lead if coach didnt have the learning curve of a piece of cardboard. 32 games so far this year that the same thing has happened and you still cant figure it out lol

so far, at least.

edit: they actually have the lead going into half. who woulda thunk it.

T-Rob actually isnt playing too bad tonight. hasnt forced any shots and finds his guards instead of trying to dribble the length of the floor.

T-Rob all of a sudden looks better when he isn't relied on to be an offensive weapon. The T-rob and Hayes combination is the worst possible fit.

thats what ive been saying.

there was a game a couple of weeks ago where T-Rob came in for JT in the first quarter and played with the other 4 starters. and he looked the best he has all year.

so we survived the SSQS "Second quarter Smart Sabotage" with a 1 point lead. better than the big deficits the 2nd usually gives us. lets see how the second half goes!

Jeeze who's butt did that Brit kiss to get the royal treatment.

With the way we've played you can't complain with the score the way it is.

From the 11 minute to 7 minute mark of the second we did not have JT or Cousins in the game. During that period we were outscored 16-5.

edit: They also took twice as many shots as we did during that period.
edit 2: Them 10 shots, us 4.

anybody want to bet that Smart will now start this very lineup in the 2nd half, because he had to "go with what was working"?

OK, so as much as it would seem that this is the case (and we have had a few major second-quarter meltdowns), it turns out we're hardly worse on the season in the 2nd relative to other quarters.

1st: -1.56
2nd: -1.75
3rd: -1.31
4th: +0.13

Whoda thunk?
