Kings Pre-Draft Workout Video (updated daily)

From Jason Jones in Sacbee

"*Here's a little more on the DeMarcus Cousins-Derrick Favors workout this Saturday.

It looks as if none of the workout will be open to the media for viewing. Also, the workout won't feature any one-on-one play with the two, from what I'm told.

The Clash of the Titans, it won't be.

Great, just great...

That kinda sucks we aren't gonna see any vids... but this could ultimately be a good thing if it helps get the guy we want by keeping things on the down low... no need to show other teams how these guys worked out for us. Everyone that's been in with us so far has been within reach no problem so it hasn't mattered.

Is it me or does it look like his feet are sticking to the ground while he runs?? :D

He seems skilled for a big man as advertised. But he also didn't really run hard or run all the way through in a lot of drills which kind of supports the reports of him not working hard enough and getting disinterested in a game.
I think this is the biggest red flag for any player, especially for a player like Monroe who at this early has some people tagging him as another softie BIG. If these reports are true, then we are about to get another SOFTIE BIG and worse - another LAZY/unmotivated BIG in Monroe.

Do we really need another Hawes/Miller in this team?

Or we just want to know if a black version of Hawes/Miller will somehow get us a different result?

Understood...I think the point in this article is just painting a broad brushstroke of his maturation, along with his newfound knack to hit the big shot...this wasnt the only game winner he hit, it was just one in a few that made you raise your eyebrows.

edit: and it talks about his creativity and effectiveness in utilizing Coachie's offense, too.

Unfortuantely, or fortunately, whichever your preference, the Kings don't run the princeton offense anymore. And they're not going to until Evans becomes a consistant outside shooter. And maybe not even then.

when cousins talks his way of speaking and inserted jokes seems to be a mix between shaq and Artest.

I can see why the media gives Cousins a hard time. He has weird body language and comes off like he's hiding something to me. imo. Something screams NOO to me just in seeing him interviewed. I have never even seen him play. I think the guy has some bad juju or something. :p

Bad juju? Well yeah then we don't want any of that. Do you know how hard that is to eradicate once you have it in the locker room? I had been evaluating his skills but had I known about the juju situation I wouldn't have been wasting my time.

Snarky6thString, don't make fun of the juju.

The original iteration or the injury revised one? It'd be nice if he could stay away from the injuries and show us what it might have been like for McDyess.
He reminds me of the PRE-injury McDyess...I'd still like to get Favors if so. Yes, there's alot of 'swagga' with Cousins, and lots of potential to go along with his size...but there's just something about him that makes me scared of us picking him, can't put my finger on it.

Favors is my #1 choice right now, but I highly doubt he will fall as far as 5th. If he is available, I am sure we will pick him up.

So you've never seen him play, and you've seen, what, one interview and your ready to dump him.. because he has bad juju, what ever that is. I'll see if I can get the Kings to hire you as a scout..

I'll tell you what Cousins does during an interview. He doesn't say what people want him to say. He's not rehearsed. He just tells the truth, and personally I find that refreshing. In a lot of ways he reminds me of Barkley when he was young.

Cousins just doesn't know how to do interviews and is uncomfortable in front of the camera. He comes off looking slow and immature in front of the camera. But I remember Peja Stojakovic " I'm a basketball player, not a politician."

Yeah, I would say that most 19 year old kids would look uncomfortable in front of a camera. Especially when every time you sat down the first thing they asked you about was your bad charactor. Nothing about how you play the game. But how are you going to change your image. Or we hear you've been sliding down the draft boards because of your bad reputation. I mean after a while, you've got to get sick of hearing it. He is immature in front of a camera. Thats because he's 19 years old. Man I don't know about you, but when I was 19 years old I was an idiot. Actually, my wife might argue that I'm still an idiot. Come to think of it, some of my friends might also.. Hmmmm!

I didn't say THAT. Like I said and you repeated.. I haven't even seen him play. I'm not on here trying to be a scout.. I don't watch any college basketball. None. Zip. Zero. Don't care. I was strictly talking about his interview.

He reminds me of Rasheed Wallace...attitude wise.

'both teams played hard...'

Man, both guys were shooting the lights out. It reminds me of when Tyreke came in and couldn't miss. :)

Highlights is the key word. I'm sure they could make me look like a HOF player if they only showed the best 20 seconds of a 2 hour workout.

Cousins has three point range in that video, maybe Petrie will fall in love with him :)
(queue dramatic music)
Right now...
in an undisclosed location...
Spencer Hawes has seen the tapes of Cousins and his ability to drain the three on top of being an interior beast...
moments later, Spencer decides to get an application to work at Arbys.
(music fades out)

Favors has a slower release than Cousins, but he has much better form. Releases it from the right side of his head with good follow through, while Cousins releases it from the left side, and his shot is all wrist.
