Greetings, fellow Kings fans!!

It's beginning to get cloudy here in the forest, which this time of year could mean clouds, rain or even snow. (Not too likely for the latter, unfortunately, as it's just not cold enough but hope springs eternal).

I've got my French Vanilla coffee brewing and I even made some of my (in)famous garlic chowder. Both are usually good luck charms as far as the Kings go, so I'm hoping they work again.

This thread, along with everything else around here, is possible because of the generosity and dedication of our exalted board owner, Jeremy. If you'd like to help defray some of the costs of keeping Kingsfans.com up and running as the #1 Sacramento Kings Online Community, please consider becoming a Contributing Member.

It's not required, of course, but as a token of thanks Contributing Members get larger avatars, they can select their own custom user titles, and they get first refusal for things like tickets to the KF Night at a Kings game. We had a great time at the home opener and may be doing it again later in the year.

Tonight's game will, I hope, be another fun game. My expectations aren't too far afield, I don't think. I just want to see heart and hustle, energy and excitement. And I want to see Kevin Martin continue to be all he can be - and more!

Now, it's outside to split some kindling and get ready for tonight's game.

GO KINGS!!!

Personal update - I'm back, with all my fingers and toes still intact. (Not always a foregone conclusion when I have to split kindling...) So, I'm really for tonight's game.

My keys to the game?

1. Lots of coffee
2. Lucky purple slippers
3. GARLIC!!!

:p

Oh, no you didn't?!?

Compare me to Muss? Dude, it's like so fortunate for you that you live far away...

:p

3. GARLIC!!!

Are some of Detroit's players... not human?

Heheheheheh.

Well, it's worked all these years for me. I can honestly say I have NEVER encountered a vampire here in these deep and dense woods.

Now, here's the starting lineups:

Billups, Hamilton, Price, Maxiell, and Wallace for the Pistons

Udrih, Martin, Artest, Moore and Miller for the Kings

They showed the concourse a moment ago. Those who were at the home opener will remember, perhaps, that Kevin Martin's life-size poster was actually hidden behind one of the trinket vendor displays. It's nice to notice that error has been corrected.

:)

And we're just about ready...

Sheed and Brad in the middle for the toss. Brad gets it as Sheed swings and misses. Ball to Beno.

Brad to Martin, in to Artest, who misses but ball oob off Det. Still Kings ball.

Billups whining to the official as he was called for a foul sending Martin to the line. Poor Chauncey...

;)

Cisco forces turnover, Hawes to Martin. Nice ball movement this possession right up until the moment when Salmons' pass is intercepted...

Billups forward pass to Afflalo who gets the bucket and the +1 on foul by Moore. Justin Williams in. Billups talking to the official again.

Bonus good.

29-22 Det

20 seconds

Garcia playing the clock, and - as I'm afraid I actually expected - he messed up and carried the ball, giving the ball to Detroit.

Billups at the buzzer on a fantastic off-balance, in the air, switch hands shot.

31-22 Det

Someone needs to swat Cisco on the nose with a rolled up newspaper.

Prince miss to start the second; ball oob but Detroit retains possession.

Time out and commercial.

Hawes to the line for the freebie after the break.

They show the boys and girls who are seeing the game from "Brad Miller's Area 52" - they're from the local Boys and Girls Club. I like that the players are doing that.

:)

Hawes at the line. Hrm. Apparently the foul happened before the dunk as they show the score 36-29 and have him set to shoot two.

Hawes makes first; misses second but there's a lane violation so he gets a re-do.

8;51 left

Makes second.

36-31 Det

And Jerry talks about the old days when it was three to make two, which is something I've talked about for years and so few people believed me.

:p

Hawes out, Miller back in. Pistons ball

Pistons miss; Garcia rebound.

Beno bounce pass to Cisco, who drives inside, able to get the ball up when he shouldn't have had a chance, gets the bucket and the +1. And this is why Garcia is going to force me to buy hair dye much more often.

Bonus doesn't go.

36-33 Det
