O/T - Bear update. The guy down the road about 1/4 mile has a beautiful husky/shepherd mix dog he lets out every night. The dog is known to everyone on the hill. When the dog wants back in, he comes up to the door and scratches on it. Last night, the guy (we'll call him Steve) let Shiloh out as usual. About 20 minutes later, he heard the familiar scratch on the door so he got up and open said door...and looked right into the eyes of the 600 lb. bear!!! He said he shut the door very quickly and then just stood there, trying to figure out what had just happened. This guy is a 4th-generation mountain guy and doesn't rattle easily. As he was deciding if he was going to be faced with the decision of defending his property in the ultimate way possible (yes, that means shooting the stupid bear) the scratching repeated. He wasn't about to open the door a second time so he grabbed his rifle. Right then, he heard a bark. Shiloh was on the porch as usual. To say he was nonplussed by the event is an understatement. He went to the hardware store today and bought a viewer and installed in his door. We're all waiting with baited breath to hear the next chapter.
