Kings Offer Contract to George Karl

Here's the complete flaw in this line of logic though. You said at the time that any coach that cost you even one win needed to be fired. But now you're okay with a front office/ownership group that cost the team an entire season?

EDIT: Ninja'd by sdballer but obviously I agree.

My message was misinterpreted, it may have been misconstrued, I'm not sure which. I never stated that a coach should be fired for costing you ONE win. My argument was that too often, the Kings were losing huge leads or losing games due to decisions at the time being made by Coach Malone. At the time, we were only maybe 15 games into the season, keep that in mind. Those types of issues were becoming too common for being so young into the season.

Those types of issues are common for young teams learning to play together. Learning to play with a lead is tricky for a young team. And yeah, we're arguinga learning to play with a lead.

Young teams? I agree. But the Kings? Aside from Ben McLemore, our core is not exactly what i would dare to label as a young team.

You know, you're right. I see the light.

It was so much worse actually competing in games and losing some close ones. Now we sure don't have that problem, do we? We just lose by 15 every night. Now the coach can't cost us games.

And please, you said exactly that. Sorry, not exactly. "More than 1 game." So I guess 2 is really your threshold for firing a coach. So yeah, not costing ONE win. TWO. I hardly think that's misconstruing your message. The point is pretty much the same.

"Your peer said it, Coach Malone has costed the Kings at least 2 losses during our stretch without Cousins. I'm not putting 100% of the blame on him, but I'm not sad to see him go. His limitations and poor decision-making was exposed with Cousins being out. This team, even without our Center, should have a better record right now. If your coach is the reason why you've given up more than 1 game this season, do something about it. Bring in someone who can put this team in the best position to win and close out games.

In the midst of this abrupt and exciting acquisition of a head coach, I would say that it would be very irresponsible of us to lead this thread down this path. What happened with Coach Malone has been said and done, and we have to respect the decisions made by this front office, whether we agree with them wholeheartedly or despise them with a passion. Out of respect to our newly acquired head coach, as well as for Ty Corbin, who has been nothing short a consummate professional during this stretch, I refuse to put the spotlight on an issue that has since been put behind us. Let's now move on and look ahead to a new chapter of Sacramento Kings basketball.

You and I have a whole different definition of the word abrupt. Be that as it may let us look ahead with optimism for the new coach and team and sharp eye on those who's decisions make some of us skeptical of their acumen.

By abrupt, I mean that the change was something that not many would have expected going into this season. Abrupt in the sense that by removing the interim tag from Ty Corbin's status, presumably the intentions were for him to be able to ride out the season as head coach.

The firing of Malone will remain in the memory banks of DeMarcus Cousins a long time. He busted his butt for Malone and developed a close and WORKABLE relationship with Malone. I will bet huge amounts of money that as much as you think we should simply move on, Cousins is unable. What happened with the professional and personal relationship of Malone and Cousins will remain in the memory of Cousins. The people who caused that mess are still with the Kings. Certainly you don't think that now they have created one crap pile that they have gotten it out of their systems and will not do it again.

The people who "caused that mess" are around DeMarcus Cousins on a daily basis. They have a relationship of their own with the big man. They don't just sign his checks. I'm sure it may not be fair of us here to assume we know the ins and outs of Cousins' mind more than they do.

Why do we "have" to? The only thing I will agree to is that they are within their rights to make the decisions. Respect is not earned by the title of owner. It's earned by skill, dedication, and results. They haven't demonstrated any of those. After the firing of Malone, you could probably find the majority of fans, casual and diehard alike, that would have went ahead and hired George Karl immediately. This is an elementary decision, which children could have done. Doing it months late is not a triumph. Doing it in a manner that lacked class is not a triumph. Stringing an entire team and coach along is not a triumph. It's a relief that they didn't screw up more. You're trying to take this news as an opportunity to sweep the front office's lack of tact and knowledge under the rug. And no. Not gonna happen. They bungled this as bad as any front office in all of sports. All. This is something good that happened in spite of the front office, not because of it.

GK practically begged to come on board (months ago). DMC doesn't even give a crap anymore, he just wants it to be over. Corbin's been treated unprofessionally. Everyone has. Every fan has been treated unprofessionally. Lied to. Even the Kings employees have been treated unprofessionally. This is ridiculous. If you're Sacramento proud, then stand up for your city, not the owner that cant stop crapping on the city with condescension. I repeat, this happened IN SPITE of the front office.

It hasn't been put behind us simply because you claim it has. You can put the mass incompetence behind you if you wish, but the gross negligence going into the handling of this Karl situation and the leaks pouring out of our FO, often contradictory and showing there's a split in our organization with at least two sides working against one another shows our problems are far from over.

What's worse is the distinct possibility Cuz is so turned off by how this was handled and so turned off by how members of our organization leaked false accusations towards him and attempted to shift the blame to him publicly for their incompetence, that he doesn't forget about this and is already planning an exit strategy at some point. That's the major risk here and you sitting there ignoring the greater situation and the greater risk makes your whole stance obsolete.

You can choose to forget. But I highly, highly doubt Cuz and Fegan have chosen to forget. I highly, highly doubt Cuz and Fegan have much confidence in our FO going forward and if you're Cuz, why would you be willing to risk future years under such a chaotic and incompetent regime? It's a whole lot easier to brush this off from your couch when it's not your career being wasted and mishandled and it's not you who has been painted as the scapegoat and needed to defend yourself against your own FO. If you don't see that this whole mess increased the probability that Cuz will not be a Sacramento King throughout his prime, you've got your head in the sand.

Wanna bet? I have been correct on Cousins from his college year to the present. A lot of people have been wrong. If I had been told of the absurd firing of Malone, a father figure to Cousins, I could have given a very good guess as to not only his reaction but the reaction of the team based on the fact that Cousins is the dominant personality. Cousins is loyal to coaches. Period. He is defending Corbin right now as we play silly word games.

Before I got to the end of your note I was going to say you sound like my son. And then .........:)

BWA-HA-HAAAAA!
Chubbs, you absolutely skewered GQ_Gabriel - fantastic work!
Most of what he's posted has proven factually incorrect already this season - why should he be replied to as if he has ANY credibility?
As Kings fans, we all need to be behind this front office. Let our voices be heard and our cries responded to. We played a major role in why the team was able to remain in my beloved city of Sacramento. Everyone makes mistakes, but it's time we rally behind PDA-Vivek and Co' and build towards a winning ball club. May I remind you that there is a new state-of-the-art arena being built in the very heart of our town! Let's go KINGS.

Did PACE hijack your account?
You sound like the same exact no-brainer parroting of PDA's propaganda that he did.
Similarly, your posts are increasingly degenerating the discussion of this board.

I firmly believe that the intentions of our FO all along included replacing Mike Malone with an experienced top-tier Coach like George Karl.
I don't care if you "firmly believe that" - you are firmly WRONG.

DMC (and/or camp) is already on record as saying that HE asked for "an experienced top-tier coach" to be Malone's replacement, and was told by the FO that Karl would not work for Demarcus.
Until the FO refutes his statement, you are crap out of luck using that as your narrative here, pal.

OK - now you are reaching the heights of internet performance artist.

You are quite clearly ape-ing PDA's words to an absurd degree -
this combined with your (new?) avatar suggests to me you are trolling us here, seeing how your "PDA personality" will be replied to.

Chubbs is one of the most knowledgeable / intellectual posters on this board. I love having debates with Chubbs because he brings it to the table and backs up his statements, even proving me wrong at times. I wish I could say the same about you, "Ifat1st", and I mean that in the least offensive manner. But I do appreciate your presence here on the board, we can always use more Kings fans.

Ok it's confirmed. You are Pete D'Allessandro because that is exactly how he would have answered that.

Well played, whoever you are, well played.

A thread will go where a thread will go. Irresponsible to lead a thread down a certain path? We "have to respect the decisions made by this front office"? Um, no we don't...at least not here.

If you don't agree with a thread, don't post in it.

I was going to argue, but intellectual? Knowledgeable? Who, me?

Who am I to disagree? Flattery will get you everywhere with me.

Really effective way to remove someone from your back, btw.
