[Game] Kings @ Nuggets Game thread 1/1/11

Yeah. 20/5/5 was fun and all that, but this franchise is really mishandling Reke. Even the dingbat Nuggets announcers have noticed.

We need a teacher, some dudde who plays around with lineups thinking thats going to get us wins.

Exactly man. He just doesn't play smart a lot of the time. It's very very discouraging to watch him play this entire season. He waits a long time to make his move. He just needs to get the ball and go. When he gets a good teacher, his game will be that much better and we will be able to see it.

Might as well end the game now. Both teams walking around hoping the clock runs down.

I like how the nuggets announcer is saying "the nuggets are playing the kings 3 more times this year" right after he says they have 19 wins, as if what he's really saying is "the nuggets can count 3 more sure wins for this season"...

Nuggets announcer; "I don't like Cousins body language at all. If he keeps this up he's going to be...something I didn't understand".

As bad as the Kings played, they were still in this one until the start of the 4th. I didn't get the sense that the Nugs outplayed the Kings as a team, but they won a lot of individual one-on-one matchups. 19 TO (now 20)by the Nuggets, and they're still up by 13? Look at 4-15 from 3 pt range, and 5-13 (really?!) from the line.

Basically, both teams looked lazy throughout the whole game, but the Nuggets had the experience and talent to tighten things up when they needed to in the fourth.

Well I am turning off this no effort, hustle, heart game and hope that I see something close to resembling an NBA team tomorrow against a mediocre Suns team.

Aw Carmelo Anthony giving Cousins some heartfelt advice.

Damn son, I was srs considering goin' to the Kings this summa, but you guys suck balls! Sorry!

I'm good with the fact that Cousins hates to lose.

As am I. Atleast if you lose, you lose a close one. Not have the Nuggets clown around with you for the entire game and take you like your a NBDL team, which they certainly are playing like.

Can someone name me another team that consistently plays all 12 active guys every night? seems like we're always doing it. 10 guys is too much, and we usually hit 11 or 12. Its just so dumb.

Let the guys get in some sort of rhythm. Dont yank a guy after 1 mistake. I cant understand the short leash some of these young guys have. WE HAVE 6 WINS. Clearly NOTHING is working. We have nothing to lose.

It's a recurring thing with the Kings this season. Being "in the game for 3 quarters" is an illusion. Teams know we are really bad, so they come unmotivated and without a real game plan, because they know all it takes is to watch what the Kings are doing during the game (which is mostly 1-on-1 BS and stupid jump-shooting) and make a few adjustments on the go. By the 4th quarter the Kings are out of things to do and we get blown out.

You know what the problem is and why this keeps happening? Not Petrie or the Maloofs are saying anything to Westphal about wanting to see a set rotation and sticking to it. I know you want to just let the coach do his job, that's fine and all but at some point you have to have management say something about this because it's absolutely ridiculous.

And yet our former starting SF gets 3 minutes, even though he had 3 blocks on Melo...

Except that in this case, both teams played like crap for 3 quarters, as opposed to the Kings playing up to the competition, then having the other team step on their throats. The Nuggets went on a run early in the fourth, and it looked like the Kings just gave up with around 10 minutes left in the game. I feel like the Kings had the opportunity to work the ball inside, but decided to try and jump shoot their way through this game instead of work inside out. The outcome would have been a little closer, anyway.

The Nuggets half-assed their way to the win, and the Kings pretty much let them.

That's OK, Nuggets' announcers didn't think the Kings won, either.

Didn't think the Kings won the Grizz game, or didn't think the Kings should have won? Hopefully the latter, because it's not like the shot was in dispute.

They don't like Cousins body language. Whats he suspossed to do, jump for joy at getting a foul called on him. Or be happy when things start to go south for the Kings. I guess J.R. Smith laughing his a** off at the Kings while running back down the court is just fine. Unfortunately Cousins is in the national spotlight, and recent events don't help. So people are going to be looking for anything they can find, to substantiat what they've read. Just human nature.

At least Cousins look like he gives a crap. I'll take that any day over the lifelessness the rest of the team displays every other game. If the other 11 guys played with the same passion and emotion Couisn displays, I guarantee we would have more than 6 wins.

I'm so sick of people making someone's body language a big issue. I'm not big on conformism and expecting players to display "correct" body language reeks of conformism to me. People have greatly varying dispositions so naturally they're going to vary greatly in how they react to things, as well. On one end of the spectrum you have Tyreke who shows so little emotion that people often mistake it for disinterest and on the other end you have Cousins who wears his emotions on his sleeve and gets criticized for it.

BINGO! In a nutshell.... Most teams go with an 8 or 9 man rotation. The only team I can remember that was sucessful playing all 12 players was the Warrior championship team in 1975. Although Rick Barry played around 40 minutes a game, and averaged 30 ppg.

So much for being a top 5 rebounding team.

Well we are! Just wern't last night. Two of our better rebounders didn't play much in Dalembert and Casspi, and Thompson who I think ended up with around 7 0r 8 boards didn't play much until the 4th quarter. He and Cousins were the only one's that came close to their normal rebounding. Landry was once again terrible in that area. I'm sure the altitude had a little to do with it.

The problem with The Kings isn't so much how many players are being played, it's how random the lineups are and how sporadic the minutes are. If there was a set rotation where 12 guys were getting about the same amount of minutes every night and knew what their role was it would be different. As it is though guys go from 20 MPG to DNP overnight, are thrown into different positions, pulled out seemingly at random, etc.

No arguement from me...
