It is aparrent that our beloved Kings are not legitamite championship contenders like they have been the last three years. It is not realistic to believe that they are since our team has become significantly less deep and talented, while other teams have improved tremendously.
The sad part is that we could have been championship contenders this year and for years to come since we had a core of young talented players, however, the kings organization shot it self in the foot, so to speak, by being fiscally irresponsible. They overpaid Bibby, Miller, Christie (luckily this didn't turn out too bad) and especially Webber.
If you remember, we unnecessarily gave Webber 30 million more than what any other team could give him when he was up for free-agency in 2001. He whinned about wanting to be on a championship contending team, yet took that extra 30 million when he knew it would limit the team's chances of being a championship contender in the future.
Now the team has a high salary and cannot improve via free-agency (unless a good player agrees to a salary below his market value) and risks losing some of its other key players because it cannot resign them (peja & jackson). This leaves us with only one solution. We must improve through trades. I think we must find a way to trade webber, even if it means losing another key player to get a deal done.
I'll list some possibilities in another thread.
