Kings moving to Las Vegas?

With the God awful trade that just transpired, does anyone else feel that this is paving the way for the Maloofs to move the team to Las Vegas? Why else would they make such an utterly horrible transaction?

The fact that everyone will give up the kings, they will be forgotten, their fanbase will dissapear, and then they can easily move them to Las Vegas with little opposition

I doubt it. Kings fans have been trough tougher times.

Seems like there would be a lot of opposition to moving a title contending team. Now nobody will care if they move some no name team that won't even make the playoffs.

I'm not saying the Kings will be horrible now, but people just won't take them seriously anymore

No, you're not understanding -- opposition from who? Kings can bolt anytime, all they have to do is convince Stern, and the arena issues alone are probably enough to do that.

I think you're confusing the point here. Obviously it would be easier to justify the Maloofs moving a horrible kings team than a team that can win the title. This just gives them more of a scapegoat when they say they want to move to Vegas. Yes I know they could pick up and leave like that, but you're gonna have a hard time justifying that if the kings are on their way to win a championship

I believe this is one of the reasons for the trade, not directly for this. Because, the maloofs wanted to avoid luxury tax. With the rejection of the new arena, they're not going to make the money needed from the franchise to pay for salaries in the future.

I think this in some way made Petrie depressed, and made him smoke Crack.

So yea, not directly, but somewhat.

That's the joke -- we get back contracts worht as much as Chris's ,a nd they run for just as long. That was more shocking than trading Webb himself.
