[Rumor] Kings meet with divisive guard prospect Jeremiah Fears

Seeing as how we currently don’t have a first round punk, let alone one in the lottery where he’s likely to be picked, this is very very interesting.

I remember hearing most players do interview with a ton of teams since it's basically a flea market haha but we know if the Kings were actually interested this gets rebuild hopes up for those hoping for it, lol.

I knew we had met with him wasn't aware he was "divisive" so I must ask, is he the one that got caught up in that assault case when visiting another campus where his bro was playing football with virtually no physical evidence and conspicuous camera footage?

Using divisive here to refer to him purely as a prospect lol. As far as I’m aware he doesn’t have an Ant “Show me the tape” situation going on

Funnily enough I was thinking of Terrence Shannon who was drafted by the T'wolves last year.

Now, I haven't seen *enough* Fears games this year, but what I have seen has left me less impressed than the basketball media world. I suppose the stats are good, but I would 100% take Jakucionis or Demin over him if trying to draft a PG. It's possible that the mocks are just a bit too enthusiastic on him and he's not actually a lottery lock.

It's a big eye opener if we signal we're trying to trade into the 6 spot or so. But if we want to look at more realistic scenarios, that Miami pick that could come along with say a Jaime Jaquez in potential trades that have been oft discussed here might actually be in Fears' range (at least, if *I'm* right). So maybe it's a bit more pedestrian?

Yeah, I’m with you on the Jakucionis or Demin over Fears train. The thing that gives me pause is that I felt the same about Tyrese Maxey going into his draft as I do about Fears this season (smaller guard without a real elite athletic skillset package who I’m not quite sure has a good feel for the game at the college level let alone the pros) and Maxey turned out to be a star-level player.

Even then, I’m still not taking him over Jakucionis if we’re somehow in a position to choose between the two

Maxey's big upside is that he's lightning fast, like smoke De'Aaron Fox fast. That was clearly going to play. I did like Maxey above his mock level in that draft, for what it's worth. (It's probably not worth all that much, I miss on prospects - both ways - A LOT. But Maxey I was right.)

Anyway, Fears doesn't jump out as fast at all. Kinda just a dude that's a bit better (and a bit younger) than the other dudes around him. Again, I am an idiot. So.

Eh?

Maxey is fast, but he's absolutely not faster than Fox.

When it comes to guards like Maxey, trust the college team that scouted them. If they see something, there probably is something. UK's history with penetration guards is pretty good. Fears has a really good first step, gets into the paint at will, doesn't truly stand out as elite at anything and his defense looks really sketchy. He could be a pretty productive pro but if he goes to a team that doesn't give him the rock to run things that's when all the things he lacks might show up.
