I say screw The Maloofs too but it's not because they may be moving this year. it's because they lied about it. I specifically recall in the beginning of the season they said they would not be filing this year. And as recently as January they've said that they still wished to remain in Sacramento. If they file this year in spite of that it pretty much makes them d-bags and liars in my book.
Please show us a link to a quote from the Maloofs stating that.
I have used News Bank via my Sac State account to search through past Bee articles. This was what I came up with and I found nothing of what you said:
1. Capital idea needed for new Kings arena
Sacramento Bee, The (CA) - Friday, October 1, 2010
"Right now, we're trying to stay positive," Joe Maloof said. "We want to concentrate on the team and getting people back in the building. We have to get the fans back -- it's as simple as that."
"It's very, very frustrating," continued Maloof, who has spent $2 million in arena consulting fees. "You can't sweep it under the carpet. There's a need that has to be addressed. The thing that drives me crazy is when I hear 'the Maloofs , the Kings.' A new arena would be for everybody. We've said it a million times. You'd have concerts, Disney on Ice, the UFC, all these other events. Why can't people see that?"
2. Kings contraction? No way, owner says
Sacramento Bee, The (CA) - Saturday, October 23, 2010
Upon hearing Stern's quote, Gavin Maloof told The Bee: "We're not contracting. That's not going to happen. No way we'll fold -- and no way we're selling."
3. SACRAMENTO - City to 'reboot' arena process - WITH LAND SWAP DEAL OUT, SIX OTHER PLANS TO GET ANOTHER LOOK
Sacramento Bee, The (CA) - Sunday, October 24, 2010
The mayor said the recent $100 million expansion of the Crocker Art Museum shows large projects are possible in the city.
The Maloof family, owners of the Sacramento Kings, have said they are frustrated but are trying to remain positive.
Johnson said: "The Maloofs have never told my people, 'We're out of there by this date, we're drawing a line in the sand.'
"But I'm smart enough to know that at some point, if we can't get an entertainment and sports complex built, they're going to start looking around, as they probably should," he said. "They've never said that, but I understand the nature of business."
4. Kings' home opener arrives -- what are the odds they'll exit?
Sacramento Bee, The (CA) - Saturday, October 30, 2010
Despite an aging facility at Arco and several years of lean attendance, the Maloofs continue to profess their loyalty to Sacramento and its fans. But for the first time since buying the team 11 years ago, the Maloofs are talking openly about their willingness to consider alternatives.
"I think any smart businessman has to look at options," co-owner Joe Maloof told The Bee this week.
"Sooner or later, there has to be an option -- everybody knows that," he said.
