Kings making Rudy available for trade?

i don't think any team gives us what we are looking for, for Rudy.

The Boston trade proposed was a good one but there's no way a team offers that. Given this i full well expect Rudy to be in a Kings uni post deadline.

We need to pull together and push for the playoffs. I don't think trading Rudy regardless of the return actually sets us up any better to compete for the 8th and beyond given the chemistry we currently have albeit sporadically and the time it will take for new players to settle/gel with the team following a trade.

They have Harris who is a younger slightly less talented Rudy Gay with a way better motor that trade makes zero sense for the Magic.
 
No way in hell we can get Gordon from orlando let alone Fournier added. Although I can see orlando trading Fournier so they don't pay him this summer. I'd do a Gay for Fournier swap though. Fournier is only 23 getting better and has great size for SG and great shooter. He can create for himself and would fit with DMC/Rondo. Sign and trade marco for Barnes in FA

#1 or #3 options please. I like the grit of both Brewer and Jones, and McDaniels is a roll the dice high ceiling kind of guy. Now if you really could get Oladipo in the #3 trade my jaw would drop to the point I'd need surgical repair; I'd also nominate Vlade as GM of the year. I have a man-crush on Oladipo, who is barely scratching the surface. If you want to get real with this Kings team you need an All Star go-to guy in the crunch. Ultimately, it's not role players you need - you need another star. (I've been saying that for years now). Oladipo can be that guy.
 
This teams priority should be athletic wing defenders who can hold their own on the offensive side of the ball, Neither Casspi or Gay can hold that down for long stretches. Unfortunately that is the most sought after type of player in the league and whoever has a decent wing is not very eager to give him up. Oladipo would be a dream.
 
Oladipo would be great with his defense.

Fournier does nothing for us. Nice offense, terrible defense. Can't go out and get his own shot like Rudy can.

I'd be fine with the Rockets and Portland Deals. No thanks to the Denver deal and the first Magic deal. The second Magic trade I'd be iffy on.

I like Oladipo but he's struggling this year, is a poor outside shooter and really just isn't a great fit. It would also mean three mismatched and struggling SGs in Ben, Oladipo and Marco.

All speculation but not bad proposals really.
 
I'm sorry, but you guys are CRAZY if you would not do that Lakers deal. Russell is going to be a star PG in a few years while Rudy will be at his ceiling.

I'd do that trade, and use the remaining cap space for FA.


My god...I'd hop onto that deal right now if I could.

In the proposed trade, it's Rudy+Kofus+Butler for Russell+Hibbert.

We add around $23million in cap space, which brings our total to around $48million for FA.

With that money, we can go after top FAs like Whiteside, Batum, Anderson, Fournier, and Beal.

Right and we still hurt our chances to make the playoffs this year.
We have a GM on a short time contract. We have a new Arena opening.
We have an owner, who wants to win now.
There is no place for a well thought out long term development plan.
 
I still think our #1 target should be Avery Bradley. He would be an absolute game changer for this team.

Nobody in a King's uniform can guard the ball and disrupt a back court like this kid.

Making the playoffs with a sub 500. team is not winning but if we are in win now mode, the reality is the ceiling of Rondo/Gay/Cuz is really low and only going to get worse with the first two aging and neither really has a chance to get better only worse. Get some guys around Cousins age or slightly younger like Portland did for Lillard and let them grow.

I get that. But we have committed to a short sighted strategy.
I doubt we will make any move, that will hurt our chances to get into the playoffs this season.
Now if we fail to do so, I expect major changes in the offseason. But most likely the first change will be a new GM.
And no matter if fans like it or not - most NBA teams don't follow the championship or bust strategy. So there is no guarantee that the Kings FO doesn't want to hold onto a team, that at least may be respectable, while still mediocre, for a few years.

Yeah, I'd love to have Oladipo who I think had his development set back by Orlando trying to make him into a PG. He does have nice passing skills, but I don't think he has a PG mentality. Already a good defender, he has the potential to be a lock down defender, and he's improved his three point shot every season. I don't know if he'll be a star or not? Maybe, but so far it hasn't happened. Star or not, he would greatly improve our perimeter defense while adding some scoring punch from the SG position.

Well the only SF they have on the roster is Crowder, who is a little undersized for the position at 6'6". I have no idea if they have interest in Gay or not, but one could argue that he would be an improvement over Crowder. Or not!

You know I have nothing to base this on but my gut, but I think Vlade's job is safe for at least another year. I think Karl's job is definitely in jeopardy. I do think that no management moves will be made until the offseason. To fire Karl would look like an acceptable move, after another season of under achieving But to fire both the GM and the coach would make us the laughing stock of the NBA once again, and I don't think that's the mantle Vivek wants hanging over his head going into the new arena.

Here's the thing. Most people on this forum have said over and over that on paper, this team should be better than it's been performing. If you and I and most think that's true, then we must also believe that Vlade put together a pretty good team. Those two things seem to go hand in hand. If so, then how can you fire the GM? If not the GM, then it has to be the coach, right? Or, some players that possibly don't fit, or perhaps don't want to fit, need to be moved. Or both! I could be wrong. As I said, I'm just going with my gut on this one, but my gut has been right more times than it's been wrong. It's also a little too big right now.

I am going to assume that Vlade will have more information than your gut although the two ideas may be very similar. :)

The question is, whose idea was that? Vlade's or Vivek's? I'm assuming that it was Vivek's, and if so, how can he blame Vlade for being shortsighted about the future? Well, I guess he can, he's the owner. If nothing else, Vivek is learning that putting a winning team together is trickier than he thought. Players aren't like parts of a computer that you can put together and have an expected result. The bastards have the nasty habit of thinking for themselves. where's the Vulcan mind meld when you need it?
 
Vlade's job is more then fine. It's not even up for debate. We need to get more out of this team and thats on Karl. Trading Rudy for pieces which are mooted to help our defense wouldnt take the pressure of Demarcus on offense. Rudy is a legit 2nd scorer.

If we want defense, we need to preach it and make it an emphasis. Vlade needs to talk Karl through that and be heavy handed because Karl's job is at risk in all this.

Right now you dont trade your cornerstone players; Demarcus, Rudy, Rondo, WCS, Casspi

upgrading our role players or packaging them to address a need may be an option. We are banged up across the board, from coach to players and coming off a momentum downswing. The goal is win now. Stay the course.

Wow. Same here. I just hit the highest I have ever weighed and hope to lose some of that gut despite the fact I may not have as much behind my opinions. That makes sense to me. :)

I agree totally. I think Vlade's dilemma is whether to make a move with Karl now or later. Given that the coach may very well be the problem, it doesn't make much sense to trade players although I can see a few tweaks that may help no matter who the coach is. Convincing an almost HOF coach to change his coaching style from the style that has gotten him into the HOF seems futile.

Man, I didn't expect this season to be so painful.

Sure there is. If Russel was Kobe you do the deal in a second and don't even think.

However, if Russel is just an overrated scrub in waiting living off of draft position, then it would be disaster. The problem isn't the nature of the deal, the problem is the centerpiece. Just as a hint to everybody, if the Lakers thought they won their gamble and had their next Kobe there he wouldn't be available in trades.
