Over the past 11 years I've made an annual pilgrimage 9 times to watch the Kings Summer League Teams. First in Salt Lake City for 6 years, then Long Beach and last year for the first time in Las Vegas. Watching Ronnie Price play was quite an eye opener. He didn't see much time during the season but bet he is in summer league again and on the roster Come late October.
Why? It is fun basketball and gets one a King's "fix" in the dull (NBA wise) summer months.
Las Vegas was a ball last year. And was it hot, in the 90's and 100's 3-4 days in a row. But getting up early for an hour bike ride in the desert was always a good way to wake up. Rooms are cheap then, a motel off the strip can be as little as $40 especially during the week. Tickets for games are cheap too. And Las Vegas never closes.
So once again my brain is thinking about the Kings and Summer League. I'll take a few days off and drive over from Santa Cruz, about a 7+ hour stint, but what the heck.
To fill that summer league roster the Kings have already begun working out prospects for what is usually a 12-14 man roster. So far in the past few days they have worked out the following prospects:
Las Vegas Summer League runs from Thursday 6 July thru Friday 14 July. All games are at the Thomas & Mack Center. For more info go to:
