Kings/Lakers Trade

I know trades within the same division are rare, but I do see this trade improving both teams. I tried this trade using RealGM Trade Checker.

Sacramento In:

Lamar Odom

13.4 ppg, 9.6 rpg, 3.1 apg in 36.8 minutes

Lakers In:

Ron Artest

18.4 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 4.0 apg in 38.3 minutes

Kenny Thomas

1.4 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 0.6 apg in 12.2 minutes

Why both teams trade?

Artest keeps saying that he is not benefiting the team and he is taking time and points away from Garcia and Salmons, so sending him to a team that is above .500 and obviously playoff bound makes him happy. The trade makes the Lakers frontcourt much more defensive as well as playing alongside with Gasol. Kings get Odom who is a decent SF that can score and rebound and they get to dump Kenny Thomas onto the Lakers. IMO, this trade makes both teams happy and improves both teams and each side wins.

Lakers dont want or need KT and in thier minds, Odom is better than Ron.

I think Artest is better than Odom defensively and would mainly help the Lakers frontcourt on the defense, being that Gasol is a soft PF when working in the post. As far as KT is concerned, Lakers got to take someone they don't necessarily want to get someone that they do want.

ya i get that but i dont think they will see Ron + KT's contract > Odom. Expecially when KT has a long deal, and Ron coul just walk away. Odom is playing very well, and they lakers will be very good this year. I would love the trade. DOn't get me wrong.

I like Artest's skill level, it's just too bad that he feels he isn't part of the Kings future and if I wonder if there is anyway to sweeten a deal between the Lakers and Kings involving Artest. To me it seems that teams that are willing to deal right now would be the Lakers, Cavs, and Heat.
