Kings @ Lakers Game Thread

You know what is so funny is that people actually think the players care about next season. They are not going to "tank the season" in order to get a high draft pick, etc.... Alot of these guys on this team will not be around next year and considering Bibby, Rahim and assorted others(Artest included) have been shopped around do you really think they want to lay down for the rest of the season and hope for better next year?? No, they all want to win and get into the playoffs and could give a **** what the Kings do in the offseason or next year.
You presume too much; just because I want the team to tank doesn't mean that I think the players want that.

If I could impose my will on the Kings, I wouldn't be sitting here bitching about it on a message board... but that's not going to, by any stretch, change my mind: making the playoffs in a deep draft year when we can't win the championship anyway is just about the worst scenario.

Great game, i got a little pissed off that Odom didnt get ejected, in my mind he got way more than 1 tech, but oh well, we got the big W.

GO KINGS!

My goodness, people, lighten up. (especially citrus and vf21)

What exactly is your obsession with the draft? I don't get it. It's NEVER EVER EVER good to lose games to get "better draft picks"

Draft is all about luck anyway. At what number was Martin drafted? Kevin Garnett? Kobe? Gilbert freaking ARENAS? They are all late picks, and believe it or not, most all-stars were picked late in the draft.

Why in the world would you want the team you root for to lose? This is ridiculous! Get real.
Oh really?

So, exactly how do you define "most," anyway?

Well, it was a win against the Lakers, for which there is no replacement in the regular season. As for Muss...

The Good: Some of the playcalls were good. Bibby, Martin, and Artest really found a good groove together, and may even actually be developing some chemistry? Or is that too much to ask? I was impressed by the poise which Ronnie Price ran the backup PG spot. Overall, Kobe got his numbers, but he was never really out of hand, and you can thank good team defense for that, so give Muss credit there.

The Bad: Our frontcourt continues to expose itself. Layup after layup was given up, and thankfully we had a big lead or we might have choked this one away too. Corliss refused to pass and grab rebounds. Shareef was whiny and earned a T. Garcia was out of control. Salmons was scared ****less to shoot an open jumpshot, and often tried to force a drive when nothing was there. And why was Corliss guarding Odom? Bad call by Muss...

But really, the inablitity of the Laker bigs to take advantage of our frontcourt was the difference in this game. Because it was clear our backcourt was better.

Bibby out dueled Kobe:D

You know what? I just realized I don't even care what Phil Jackson has to say any more. His team was outplayed and he can't face it. Pretty pathetic.

still...all things considered, the lakers are a lot better off than we are and that has more to do with the coaching than anything else.

I am VERY happy with the win last night!.... Especially with the fact that Bibby has strung together at least 2 games of outstanding play...

And it's NOT ONLY that- its the fact that the BIG 3 guys (Ron, Kevin & Mike), including a few others, played well (for the most part) offensively.... and SMOOTHLY for once! Most of the season its either been 1 guy or 2 guys, but NEVER all 3 guys at the same time- so it felt very good to see that tonight.:)

With that being said- how frustrating is it when the Kings play well in the 1st half of the game (& u can take last night's game as an example), then in the 2nd half, totally bog down on offense- just "trying" to run out the clock??!! During the 4th quarter, it was so obvious that they were only focused on running down the shot clock and just jacking up anything, letting the Lakers back into the game... Not to mention not getting "back" on D after the missed shot AND missed rebound.. btw...I know the Kings are a "short" team.. but they're being EMBARRASSED on the boards by ANY team..

We've seen this time and time again in many 2nd halves where our Kings do pretty well in the 1st, then TOTALLY shut down in the 2nd?! The passing just disappears... leading to more missed shots... leading to more lost rebounds... leading to more "leakouts" and BAD fastbreak defense...

Am I the only 1 who sees this??

:(

I second that.....well, coaching & they have a better defensive frontline IMHO..

As much as I hate Phil... at least his players somewhat believe in him as a coach....
