Hall of Famer
Buddy will be making over $24 million this season and his numbers have been pedestrian all across the board. talk about cashing in at the right time.

depends. The Kings defense is so bad that darn near the entire team is in the bottom 20 players in the league for defensive rating who have played more than 20 games. But Bagley and Buddy are driving the tank.

Robinson was the worse in the league which explains why he got released.
Bagley is 3rd
CoJo is 4th
Whiteside is 5th
Hield is 7th
Fox is 10th
Barnes 13th
Haliburton 16th
Yeah, if Buddy and Bagley were keeping this team from the playoffs, it would have been resolved quickly. Contrary, they were both on the floor and healthy during the win streak. There are break downs at all levels on defense for this team.

I didn’t say they were keeping the team from the playoffs we have plenty of other issues but they are among the worst defenders.

They can't let the world burn in the process. The better route as a GM in current times to shine the turd, not eat it. And from day 1 history said Walton should never have been a consideration.
You keep saying this and putting it on McNair, but gonna keep firing back. When your GM cleans house, but leaves the lame-duck coach who just got a big extension... it's far more likely the financials from ownership were the problem.

So we suck again, right?
I don't mind the tank. Kings need a third cornerstone. Fox, Hali, _____. Bags is going to have a Derrick Favors like career--more offense, virtually no defense, above average rebounder. Keep and develop the kids. Trade everyone else.

And Buddy is always good for a few bone headed plays a game--yea, it matters when games are usually decided by a few possessions. That dude's hoops IQ is lower than my son's, who is 7 months.

The thing about Buddy big time sucking is how much of it is on the coach and how much of it is on Buddy. I would say 80% on coach and 20% on Buddy.
Buddy getting a ton of minutes, including crunch time. This is the Buddy that Walton wants. He broke Buddy last year of his confidence. Convinced him that his focus should be on playmaking and defense instead of being an elite shooter.

they also forgot to mention that when this season concludes they will be in the NBA history books in terms of Playoff drought, or is that after the 2021-2022 season concludes?
we will be tied for the record with 15 after this year.

I found this even more interesting. Look at the Spurs playoff “droughts”.

These are the years they didnt make the playoffs.
Zero consecutive years without a playoff appearance

Confirms what I’ve seen with my own eyes.

When a team like the Knicks shoot the percentages they did today, it’s easy to conclude that the opposition just isn’t trying. They can’t be.

My only explanation for it is, this is the KINGS version of tanking purposely. Rather than fielding a g-league roster, they are having their coach put them in no-win situations. Purposely fielding 5 players that don’t mesh and employing offensive and defensive schemes that clearly won’t work.

And yet people keep saying that. While it may be true, he's going to catch the flak and rightfully so. Also, people still think the financials are the issues all the while they just dropped a max deal on Fox and picked up Bjelicas option prior to the year only to watch him sit. No, those don't sound like total and complete "issues" to me. Issues like that don't involve picking up 7 million dollars and then dropping it in the toilet for no reason.

Well look, I'm probably the biggest Buddy apologist you'll find on this board, but I'd say 50-50. Last year as far as on-court production goes I'd agree it was more 80-20, but I can't blame Luke for Buddy shooting at such a low clip this year on some pretty good looks.

I do think I can blame Luke that we don't see Buddy getting easy points off backdoor cuts, or pulling up for more mid-range shots (I mean I doubt Buddy would be hesitant to take the midrange shots that he was taking all of last season if the coaches were actively encouraging him to do so; he might not be the highest bball IQ guy but it's a bit of a stretch to think that his response to coaches saying "take the open midrange that you took all last year!" is "BUDDY NO LIKE, TWO POINT ATTEMPT BAD"). Have to wonder how much of an issue fatigue is too.

I haven't been the biggest Buddy fan this season, but it's on the coaches to scheme him correctly and scheme offensive sets around his skill-set correctly. It's night and day when he's used like Klay in catch and shoot situations how good and effective he can be. Running him off screens, etc. And virtually every time he's asked to create off the bounce, he struggles. That's coaching to make sure most of his FGA come in the catch and shoot and with him off-ball.
