Why would he be he's like a 3rd option? He's busy helping the Jazz win games and getting ready for the playoffs.
Because apparently one 40+ game makes him better than fox, but when asked to do it consistently, he doesn’t have to because he’s a 3rd option? Don’t you think having a player who scores 20+ points in 15 straight games for the jazz would help them win games and prepare for the playoffs?

Yeah, but players shoot after the buzzer all the time. Not that aggressively maybe but ejection worthy? I know the throwing it out of bounds thing exists but still.
I think it’s a “letter of the law” type situation. Guys shoot after the buzzer all the time but they can argue it’s a shot cuz it would have counted before the buzzer. You can’t argue that after a made shot with no time left cuz it’s a dead ball. It legally would have to be inbounded before he can shoot it so that eliminates that excuse. It’s like throwing the ball into the stands after the whistle blows cuz of a foul or the ball went out of bounds. I mean I didn’t want him to get tossed but I can see why.

I’ve been saying for a while that the only way to win with Fox is to follow an AI or Russ model where the entire team is built around one player. That type of model would lead to Fox dominating the stat sheet, making the playoffs eventually, and maybe getting to the finals in a yr when everything lines up like the 76ers 2001 season. But today’s NBA has shown that you need at a minimum two, preferably three anchors to consistently be a championship level NBA team.

Until proven otherwise, I’m not convinced Fox has the game to compliment other anchor pieces. And I don’t see it working with Domas unless they both improve their shooting from outside of the restricted area. They need to stretch the floor between themselves in that paint area and for others, who can cut off the gravity that they’re demanding.

And if it doesn’t work, the player that needs to go is Fox. The only Kings player with an elite versatility rating is Domas.

Not just Russ and AI. Look at the jazz and grizz. Just add good 3 point shooters and a defensive big to complement him and domas. There are probably more scoring pg in the league who aren’t great 3 point shooters (fox recently getting better) with non stretch centers than you think. Ja isn’t a great 3 point shooter and Adams doesn’t stretch the floor. But add jjj bane and brooks and you’re in the playoffs. Jazz have bogdanovich and O’Neal as their 3 and d guys to make up for gobert. It’s not building a team around fox, it’s building a competent team in general.

Wait. Where’s Jordan Clarkson on that list?

Fox is playing a great stretch. But most NBA players, including Clarkson, have zero chance of getting on such a list - no matter how well they play.

Donovan Mitchell averages 20.2 FGA/game; Clarkson is next for the Jazz at 14 per. Clarkson is rarely going to get more attempts than Mitchell. Even on a career scoring night he had 1 fewer FGA than Mitchell.

DFox averages 18.3 FGA. Excluding the newbie Sabonis, HB is next at 11.1. I doubt there've been more than a couple games out of the 69 played in which HB had more FGA than Fox - and, again, it doesn't matter how well either of them plays. In SAC, as on most NBA teams, the top of the FGA pecking order is super clear and consistent. Even in the season opener against Portland, when HB went 8-11 from 3 and scored 36, Fox had 3 more FGA.

So yeah, actually - as you say on another post - it's pretty much one guy per team simply as a function of opportunity. You can count on one hand the number of teams that have two guys getting enough shots to consistently score 20+: LAL (LeBron, 21.4 FGA and Davis, 17.2); CHI (DeRozan, 20.3 and LaVine, 18.1); BKN (Kyrie, 20.1, Durant, 20.0); BOS (Tatum, 21.0 and Brown, 18.4).

So: kudos to DFox. But let's not pretend that he and Clarkson are on equal footing.

I’ve literally been preaching this and for some reason I still see “you can’t build around Fox”

I don’t think a player like Adams next to Fox and Domas would work. That becomes an interior sh*t show.
Finding competent 3 and Ds over time is possible, but it doesn’t work if in order for Fox to thrive, the others suffer. Until proven otherwise, I’m not convinced Fox has the type of game that leads to more wins then losses because of that. He needs to change his game. Instead of bulking up or creating NFTs, dude needs to call CP3 and offer to spend the entire off-season watching film with him and playing next to and against him.

We would be looking for a JJJ to complement them not adams. Other than that I totally agree with learning about court vision and work on 3 point shooting this off-season instead of bulking up and creating NFTs. If we can’t bring in a CP3 to the team, might as well learn how to become one.
