Wait. Where’s Jordan Clarkson on that list?
Fox is playing a great stretch. But most NBA players, including Clarkson, have zero chance of getting on such a list - no matter how well they play.
Donovan Mitchell averages 20.2 FGA/game; Clarkson is next for the Jazz at 14 per. Clarkson is rarely going to get more attempts than Mitchell. Even on a career scoring night he had 1 fewer FGA than Mitchell.
DFox averages 18.3 FGA. Excluding the newbie Sabonis, HB is next at 11.1. I doubt there've been more than a couple games out of the 69 played in which HB had more FGA than Fox - and, again, it doesn't matter how well either of them plays. In SAC, as on most NBA teams, the top of the FGA pecking order is super clear and consistent. Even in the season opener against Portland, when HB went 8-11 from 3 and scored 36, Fox had 3 more FGA.
So yeah, actually - as you say on another post - it's pretty much one guy per team simply as a function of opportunity. You can count on one hand the number of teams that have two guys getting enough shots to consistently score 20+: LAL (LeBron, 21.4 FGA and Davis, 17.2); CHI (DeRozan, 20.3 and LaVine, 18.1); BKN (Kyrie, 20.1, Durant, 20.0); BOS (Tatum, 21.0 and Brown, 18.4).
So: kudos to DFox. But let's not pretend that he and Clarkson are on equal footing.
