The tank is strong, good job Kings. I'm cool with Fox elevating his play down the stretch, maybe it will increase his market value this offseason.

The Kings shouldn’t trade Fox. They need to surround him with legitimate NBA players that can shoot and play D. Clearly the Kings need to upgrade the rest of the roster and the coach. One player can’t carry a whole team to the playoffs.

When someone is playing to near untouchable levels offensively while also showing how important they are to your talent base it usually means markets are closed for business. Day 1 to today, you trade Fox, you rebuild, period. Rebuild and bye bye Domas. I don't think that was the plan.

The Kings are in a very unique position. Rarely does a team blow their chances with a young player, watch them explode 1 year into legit star level when finally used properly, then screw them around the next year in favor of lesser talent at the same position only to see it come back to form after necessary trades. Now, building up Haliburton may very well have been Monte's plan all along, but this isn't a fluke. Fox has been and is the only thing close to this level as a talent on this roster. There are no more arguments, no debates. We saw both sides. Unfortunately neither has brought winning but yes, you build around the talent if they aren't begging out. The Kings have about a season and a half with Fox/Domas to get this right. Put your big boy pants on Monte this summer is HUGE. Go out and put people in Fox's way again and you're sunk.

Oh, so we are going to pretend that gaudy stats in March mean so much for the future success of the team that Monte should hang up the phone this offseason for anyone calling about Fox? I'm not even against Fox, but I'm down for the Kings to have as many options as they can to improve the team this offseason ...

Between the draft and some of the trade pieces we have there is no way we can't solidify the two big gaps in our starting rotation and if we move into a 6 seed with the help of those pieces and the right coach we will have some free agency $$$ to play with in 2023 offseason if we don't do something crazy in a trade. We also have full MLE.

If he's considering rebuilding then of course you do. But as is, you aren't getting an even trade back for Fox. Not at this level. If Monte was even considering rebuilding you don't make that Sabonis deal. You do the opposite.

Oh cool, glad you got it all figured out.

Yeah, it's called looking at the Kings typical history and learning from that vast array of mistakes. You don't even remotely let ANYONE think you are considering trading someone like Fox. That will send things south in a hurry. You try and build on this Fox and the Ox thing, no stops. Get creative and those hurt feelings might come right back and make decisions for you.

If Fox was on the table we'd probably have kept Haliburton. If some crazy deal that was highway robbery came along maybe you'd make it, but there is no way they'd do a move like the one for Sabonis that was maybe a win-win deal that came out looking optically horrible for the Kings in the national media.

You'd think that someone who's cheered for the Kings as long as you have would know better than to say things like this.
ok that reads more optimistic than I intended. We definitely should be able to fill one via draft and hopefully hit the second in trade. I do think Monte is far better than we've had since Petrie actually made the calls. I'd say the Artest deal signalled a Maloofian takeover.

Yeah, their history is that they will sign 2-3 mediocre free agents for above market value and be in the same exact position next March as they are every March.

True, haha. But that's not even the problem. It's signing them and putting them in front of lottery picks that does them in even worse. Vlade in theory made the right moves on paper. If Fox can maintain at some star level, even if this doesn't work next March, or the one after, the trade options will be there. Right now the Kings have at the very least an illusion of building towards something with Fox/Domas. Let it ride but everything Monte does better be based around that combo.

Uh, yeah. Pretty sure he was throwing it towards the other hoop even if it was someone angrily. lol.
I just rewatched it. It was after a made basket with no time left. He can’t really argue it was a shot cuz the ball went through the hoop, he picked it up and just chucked it with it being inbounded.

Yeah, but players shoot after the buzzer all the time. Not that aggressively maybe but ejection worthy? I know the throwing it out of bounds thing exists but still.

March is an important month. Everyone is playing for something, so, yea, this means a bit more to me.
