Kings invite Darryl Watkins to camp

Otherwise, if Geoff's hands continue to slowly merge with his butt cheeks as he sits on them in his recliner, then Reggie will have little choice than to play the vets. In fact he may even be ORDERED to do so by Geoff in order to try to drive up their trade value, and any time for the kids might not come until deep into the season aftr trades are finally made draining guys away.

This one cracked me up :).

I don't know if it is Geoff or the Maloofs directing this movie (no, I am not giving Geoff a free pass by transfering the blame on the owners. As long as he is the GM, he is responsible. Just saying that like Reggie in future, he might be following orders too). Whoever it is, he/they seem inclined to try and make a push for the playoffs.

Unless a fire sale happens in future, signing of a vet like Miki suggests that the full rebuild has been postponed for at least two years, and till then, they want to put a competitive (in terms of trying for the 8th seed) product on the floor. Like it or not, seems like we shall have to live with it.

Yes, that is the only way KT gets traded. As a chip by himself, he has zero value. Bibby and KT together represent quite a bit of salary so I feel as if its not possible but I hope it happens.

That's why I occasionally wonder about the possibility of Artest and KT. Problem is, you can't get value for Artest on his own, much less with KT superglued to his side. Salary-wise would be easier to deal with, though.

I agree. I'd hate for us to take less value back in return for Artest though because we got KT attached to him. I say tell KT to stay home and don't come to camp or let him come to camp and die on the vine. Send the message that he should opt out if he wants to play in the next 2-3 years. He probably won't opt out but so what. It's not like we are telling a good character guy to take a hike.

You know, this is just wrong. The ONLY problem with Kenny Thomas has been that he wanted to start and was not real happy when he didn't. That doesn't mean his character is lacking.

From what I've heard, he's personable and the players like him as a person. He's quiet and (I think) actually a bit shy, which has led to people thinking he's aloof.

KT hasn't been a good fit for our team but the constant bashing of him is just wrong.

I sure hope Petire's waiting is working in his favor by putting the pressure on potential suitors to make a better offer. Because at this rate he'll be bluffing his way into a total disaster.

That said, Artest to NY, Bibby to Miami, and Brad to Orlando would get things right.

This is the thing, GP is not bluffing. He has his bottom line that he will accept for Bibby or Artest. He will not let them go for less that his percieved value, period. If no other GM's are willing to offer a trade that is equal to or above this perceived value, the Kings roster will not change much. Both had bad years last year and GP is not going to take that into account. I think that he would rather sit on them for another year in an attempt to increase their trade value, than let them go for cheap.

I don't know the exact quote from Kenny Thomas but is was something to the effect that he wouldn't give his all if he didn't start... or he wasn't able to play his best unless he started...or you can fill in the blank. For me, I find that very selfish and a person lacking in the type of character or professionalism I would want from a teammate, a player on a team I root for, or just about anybody in general. If someone could find the quote so that we could look at it again, that would be great. If someone said something to those effects, at least for me, I was offended by it and it turned me off completely to him. He said it. As for aloofness, well, that just compounds the problem as it seems like he is following through on his comments.

While KT made no secret of wanting to start, I do not recall him saying he wouldn't try if he didn't. If you can find the quote, I would love to see it.

As for aloofness? Look at my comment again. Appearing aloof is a common occurence with people who aren't outgoing or gregarious. It doesn't mean they ARE aloof. From what little has been said about him and his interaction with the other players, I certainly don't recall anything negative.

Bottom line is that we don't go for unending player bashing around here and the whole KT thing has become ridiculous.

The only really bad thing about KT is his contract, and you cannot blame him for that. PS - I would defend him a little more often if he could sink a damn clutch free throw now and again.
