Kings To Host "Defy The Odds" NBA Draft Lottery Party At Firestone Public House
Fans are encouraged to join Head Coach Keith Smart at one of Sacramento’s hottest new restaurants as the Kings learn what selection team will have in the 2012 NBA Draft

SACRAMENTO, CALIF., May 29, 2012 -- The Sacramento Kings announced today plans to host a “Defy the Odds” Draft Lottery Party on Wednesday, May 30 at Firestone Public House on 16th Street in Sacramento.

“We’d like to see Kings fans from throughout the region join us for this exciting event,” said Head Coach Keith Smart. “Our recent lottery selections have produced some of the best young talent in the NBA, and another high pick this year will offer an opportunity to continue building our nucleus.”

The viewing party is free to the public and begins at 4 p.m., followed by a live ESPN telecast of the NBA Draft Lottery scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m. Prizes will be distributed throughout the evening, highlighted by a trip to the Las Vegas Summer League, autographed merchandise and concert tickets to upcoming shows at Power Balance Pavilion. The Sacramento Kings Dancers, Kings emcees and Slamson will be in attendance to entertain fans.

If the Kings wanted some good PR they would have had someone from the community represent the team at the NBA Draft Lottery.

I realize they did that once in the past but this would have been as good as time as any.

True, but having someone from the community won't help Adrienne on her reality show.

Keith Smart needs to go. If we end up with the number one and obviously take Davis, then we have to make a coaching change. We need to make a coaching change, period.

kings PR attempted to drum up futile "defy the odds" support for isaiah thomas' rookie of the year campaign, too. thomas finished 7th in final ROY voting. i'd hate to see the same karmic fate befall the team's lottery positioning...

;)

kennadog, agree. Smart and Adrienne are not going to ruin it for me. It is for the team. I hope for a one, two, or three and finally any spot will be great. Looking forward to what comes of it.

Really seriously!

Well, it could be fun to go. Regardless of the coach or the owners, this will be our draft choices' intro to Sacramento. This is about the team and its fans.

The problem for me is that Adrienne Maloof doesn't represent the team or its fans. She represents The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. I'm looking forward to the results but I will not be watching the drawing. I don't have that strong a stomach.

Oh, please. If this doesn't end up as part of her reality show, I will be totally amazed, stunned and speechless.

Better amazed, stunned, and speechless than irate at the levels of crass that the already classless can sink to. But who am I kidding - can using the NBA Draft Lottery as a vehicle for Plastic Housewives actually make me hate the family more? I think the enmity vessel may be full already.

THIS, THIS, ALL OF IT 100%. 100% not 90, not 95, 100 PERCENT PEOPLE. They are absolutely doing this to try to make her show suck less. Unfortunately it won't work, it will just make the draft lottery suck more because the Maloof family is an embarrassment to Sacramento, the NBA, and even Las Vegas.

this, this, 110% this!!!^^^^

I say we get top 3, and then trade down 20 spots and acquire Stephen Jackson... since we need veteran leadership and everything.

And to fill that SF hole of ours that we've had since trading Artest. I wonder how many "useless" SFs we've had since then (just count all).

Adrienne's going to net us a top 3 pick and galvanise everything the maloofs feel about themselves being the greatest.

Just watch

Question....if you could be guaranteed the #3 pick right now, would you take that or would you take your chances and proceed with the lottery?

Unless I'm mistaken our best chance is at the 6th pick. Therefore i expect us to pick there. I would be seriously miffed picking 7th or 8th because that is extremely unlucky.

As for the question above yes i'd take the 3 pick now. No question.

You have a 51% chance of getting the 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 5th pick in the draft. The odds are in your favor!

The day that the Draft Lottery is held is always a very anxious day for me. It's really weird. It's right up there with the anxiety I would get from watching a Kings-Lakers series 10 years ago. It just always seems to be a huge let down and I'm depressed for a few days afterward. Anybody else feel like this too?
