Hall of Famer
I will be out of town this weekend and won't be able to participate in loss against the Mavs. If You want a game thread - someone else will have to step up.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
On January 26th 2002 Kings won @ Jazz easily 114-90 to improve to 33-10 for the season. Despite playing 5th game in 7 nights, despite playing Jazz twice in 3 days and missing Mateen for the 8th consecutive game - Kings used their depth to prevail in this one having 7 players in double figures. Also Kings shot 10-17 from downtown and when that happened - there could only be one winner anyway. Pedja lead Kings with 25/7/4, Webber had 19/10/6, Bibby had 14/1/2, DC had 13/3a/2st, Bobby had 14/2/2/3 , Hedo had 10/4/2 and Pollard had 10/15/1 of the bench.

Karl Malone said he wasn't big on the revenge factor. He was right. Even on their home court, Malone's Utah Jazz were no match for the Sacramento Kings, who had seven players in double figures as they swept the home-and-home series with a 114-90 rout. After Thursday's 113-80 loss in Sacramento, Malone scoffed, "I don't get caught up in that revenge stuff. You just got to go out and play and do the best you can." Malone approached that, collecting team highs of 17 points and 10 rebounds. But it was the Kings who played the best they can as they ran the Jazz out of their own building.

"Every player on their team is a very good passer," Sloan said. "They know how to use screens, they know how to shoot the basketball, they know how to play together. They make the game look pretty easy."

"We wanted a solid road game," Kings coach Rick Adelman said. "This puts us at 9-9 on the road. That's a lot better than being 4-14. The fact that we're 24-1 and it's been so easy at home has spoiled our players perhaps and our fans. This shows we have to play good defense on the road to win."

"They came in and just dominated us the whole night," Sloan said.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kings used this short home stand to start a winning streak improving to still pathetic 17-23 before 4 road game trip to end January. Kings have won 3 out of their last 4 games. Currently, Kings are only 2.5 games away from the 8th PO spot and it looks like that is the goal of this franchise unless something changes quickly. Kings are getting ready for back to back sequence with a winnable game in Oklahoma City and a loss in Dallas. Kings also have the home record finally above .500 at 12-11
------------------------------------------------------------------------
As much as we suck this season we are also pretty "lucky" that not only is our health situation pretty decent but we have caught many teams in a range from short handed to decimated. We won 7 games in which the opponents were at full strength - Bulls, Warriors, Sixers, Jazz, Sonics, Raptors, Pistons. The other 10 wins were made easier by injuries. Now if we were 7-33 instead of 17-23 - we would be first favorite for the highest lottery pick. Instead we are in the middle of nowhere with no light in this endless tunnel. Makes You wonder about "lucky".
------------------------------------------------------------------------

After the injury and personal problems looks like Brad Miller is slowly getting his performances to his standards. Last night's very decent 14/8/7 with good shooting and only one turnover is hopefully a preview of more to come. Whether it will be good as in help for a late playoff run or as in increased trade value isn't that much important at the moment. As a Kings fan and as a fan of Brad Miller - You just have to be relieved/happy that things are improving. Sometime - even the "small picture" matters.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
KT had an almost perfect game which means that he should retire now while he is on the top of things. Now if we were little lucky which we aren't - some intoxicated GM would have noticed and GP would have used the moment of desperation to do his magic or whatever is left of it. Unfortunately, 2 things speak against it. First the level of intoxication required to fond KT desirable as a player is way above lethal and second chances of KT - doing this again are - well :o. With West/Chandler and Nowitzki/Dampier/Diop coming up in the next couple games - the old KT will "shine again"
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Time to introduce a new feature of this thread. "coaches corner" is the name of it and You can take the title any way You want but the fact is that there is no game in which Muss doesn't give You something to talk about and I am going to ride this horse until it is dead.
After careful evaluation Muss realized that Williams is much more effective as DNP-CD/inactive player than Mo Taylor. Duh ! If Williams practices well he might even start sometimes which is just a step away from being put on inactive list before being send back to NBDL. If this doesn't make sense - don't blame me.
Also, last night Muss managed to bring Bucks back in the game couple times with his "brilliant" and "timely" subs. I am just wondering - where does he come up with all that. He must be thinking - "Man, we are up by 20. Let me see if I can cut that lead to 5"
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bucks only missed 4 starters which made it a "fair game" considering we had Muss coaching and Bibby's defense as handicap. The future "hall of famer" Earl "Oscar" Boykins beat up Mike Bibby into nothingness. Luckly Ron hit them back and KT and Brad did the rest. Kings shot well and took care of the ball exceptionally. It was still a fairly close game.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
AWARD TIME

I can't give it to Boykins because it just isn't fair.Basically, when You are guarded by Mike "turtle" Bibby - to score 35+ points only thing that it is required for You is to me able to walk by yourself. Even if You are still in diapers - You have enough game to do it. TDM goes to Ruben Patterson who had a great game as well.
LW-VC award goes to Bogut because despite decent numbers - he is 7ft tall but just didn't do enough with it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hornets are next and they are solid at home and they will be missing Pedja and Paul. They have been playing more competitive as of late. Bobby and West are back. Their bigs will cause us all sorts of trouble and even though this game is winnable - we are perfectly capable of losing it.Bibby will be happy not to see Paul but there are still Bobby, Pargo & co. In fact - I don't think that we are even a favorite in this game. Sine the streak will stop at 3 at the latest - we might as well win this one.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mike - nice defense - maybe You should boo Yourself
Ron - very nice
Brad - keep it up
Kevin - wake up !
----------------------------------------------------------------------
KT - don't worry - we don't expect anything anyways
Cisco - 2 in a row
rest - mateen
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Muss - just keep evaluating
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Hornets - still decimated with injuries. Chandler hasn't had 20 rebound 5 blocks game in a while. West needs a breakout game after a long break. Bobby will be Bobby. The rest is walking TDM ensemble. Devin Brown will win TDM. Desmond Mason will win LW-VC award and I have no clue who will win the game.

You are correct. They were suppose to leave at noon, but didn't end up leaving till 10pm and getting into New Orleans at 4 am New Orleans time this morning.

What effect this will have on the team is unknown, but you gotta figure it kept them off of Bourbon street last night.

That was such a nice thing Brad did for those Katrina victims. And Jerry's right, he didn't do it for attention at all, as they have only found out about it now, and Brad's not the self-promoting type.

The technical difficulties are really irritating!!!

Mike, work on your FT shooting please!

Bobby making fun of Mike for not being able to hit his FTs. LOL

I miss Bobby. :)

I am still at work. What are you guys talking about technicial difficulities?

They are having problems with their broadcasting. The video goes on and off. Sometimes you can only hear the sounds.

Hopefully they have fixed it already.

Looks like one of those games where Reef has decided he is going to take a shot everytime he touches the ball. Except he's getting owned down low...

Anybody see Justin on the bench? I'm limited to "watching" on box score while listening to KHTK fade in & out, but he's not listed on the box score, which is unusual.
