[Game] Kings @ Grizzlies - Friday, Jan. 25 - 5PT/8ET

Instead of debating Bagley over Bjeli, we should really be talking about Bogi over Shump. And I love what Shump brings.

Probably not the best night to talk about it. Even with one point and 0 for the game Shump objectively had a more impactful game than Bogie who scored 5 points on 2 of 9 but didn’t assist, rebound, and was turning the ball over. He had a bad game. Shump played well defensively and assisted and rebounded.

My stance hasn’t changed on Bogdan starting. He’s a luxury off the bench and not needed in the starting lineup even as a top 3 player on the team. He has started quite a few game this year and we have seen that his numbers nor his minutes don’t change in the games he has started. We have seen the bench suffers though and without stats infront of me the Kings have lost the majority of the games where Bogdan has to start and we don’t have his versatility, playmaking and leadership off the bench.

Nice to see Bjelica come back to life. I hope it's not just a one-game thing. He's needed against the Clipps.

Fox was clutch. As usual.

WCS had a very solid game I thought. Didn't turn the ball over like everyone else. After the first couple of quarters I was thinking he was the only one who who could handle the ball without turning it over.

Leaving aside Fox's game ending plays on both sides of the court, Bagley had the play of the game on Jackson. If you have a DVR, look at that play in slow mo. Jackson gets the position under the basket he wants. He gets the shot up just like he wants. He gets very good elevation off the floor and extension on the shot. And when Jackson is at the apex of his jump just about to let go of the ball, where is Bagley? Bagley is just starting his jump. Bagley is able to block the shot because he takes off like a rocket from the floor. You just can't teach that! Remember, Bagley was the guy who couldn't play defense!

Bagley was looking more impactful than JJJ tonight, which was good. Bagley’s energy is key, it won’t allow him to not be successful. Can’t teach that

Bagley's grandfather was one of the original high flying players in the NBA in the 60s. The kid just oozes talent.

Giles did not have a good match-up with Gasol. But to be fair Bagley couldn’t have handled him either. Neither currently have the man-strength to deal with someone like Gasol defensively. The Kings didn’t help the matter by giving Giles the ball at the top of the key and letting him use his quickness to go at Gasol. In his entire time, Giles touched the ball one time. Giles is best on the floor when Bogi is playing with him and Bogi was on the bench.

Since I wasn't able to watch the game can anyone give me some insight into what kinds of shots Bagley was missing?

Looks like he had a decent game but he wasn't efficient from the field.

Let’s be honest. Any team playing Bruno Caboclo 8 minutes and Carter 13 minutes in the third quarter aren’t trying their hardest to win. Grizz have started their tank.

The trade the Grizz made with the Bulls to get Justin Holiday is absolutely mystifying to me.

Giving up Wayne Selden is meh, and Marshon Brooks is a non-factor, but they also included two 2nd round picks for Holiday, who is garbage. The Bulls didn't even want Holiday. He was reportedly one of the leaders in that group of players who revolted against management.

Did they think they were getting Jrue? Heck, even the other brother Aaron, the rookie would have been better.

From reading Grizz fan boards and reddit, they absolutely hate their GM.

Yeah, as much as I love both Bagley and Giles, I'm on board with this criticism. Neither has the bulk/strength to actually defend a full-sized center like Gasol, and I don't think it's really a matter of time/development. Both guys are PFs. That doesn't mean that you can't play both 30+ minutes per game in the long run, because basically every NBA second unit goes small. But for the foreseeable future the Kings probably need a WCS-like full-sized center to start/close games, if for no other reason than to avoid getting killed in the post on D.

They are both 19. There is a reason you don’t see many 19 year old players in the NFL. I think over time they will be fine but that time isn’t now against some of these guys.

People don't realise how important (which is not a good thing) Bjelica is to the success of this team and it's not the shooting either I will preach this until death the guy is the only player that makes a extra pass on a regular basis to turn a good shot into a great shot we have a ton of guys who take crap shots/tunnel vision WCS/Shump/Bagley and even Bogie at times while Hield/Jackson/Yogi just don't really see the extra pass but take solid shots he's the only one offsetting that and when he's not involved we lose.

Ok we won but our wins lately have been pull it out in the end drama and that going forward is just not going to work against good teams.
Yes we finally our rebounded somebody and it was a team effort which is good.
The bad? Between JJ and Shumpert we got 1 point and I would think out of a combined 40 minutes those two played the SF position it has to be some kind of a record.
And Shumpert is becoming very predictable for me at least and for the team also. Early in the game when it was like 4-2 and Shumpert had the ball I thought ok here’s where his hero ball comes on a contested shot early in the shot clock and wham thats what he did.

I don’t mind Buddy, Beli or Fox taking those shots but most of the rest of our core does it way to often. Why do some players that don’t exactly have good handles continue to try and dribble drive into a crowd and not pass out of it immediately instead of losing the ball.

We are having a good year and are still in the hunt so with all my complaints please believe me I really am pulling for this team. They have guts and the fortitude to win those close ones and that’s a very good team we are building.

no doubt about it. I lost count how many times the Kings took a shot when they could of gotten someone else a better shot due to penetration or a pump fake
