Ok Kings fans, the new season is fast approaching and that means a new year of Kings fun and excitement! Last year was admittedly abysmal, we all know that. You know what else was sad last year - the attendance at Arco!!

What happened to the best fans in the NBA?!!? Last season I was an unemployed college grad and was only able to make a few games. The only game that reminded me of anything like games in the past was the C-Webb game!

Yea the economy is bad, yea we suck, yea Arco is a dump - so what?? We could very well lose our beloved Kings if things don't turn around. Think about it - no arena plans for the near future and a dwindling fan base. This is a recipe for disaster!

Remember these days?:
The crowd of 15,858 was more than 1,000 under capacity, which meant the Kings' 12-year, 497-game sellout streak, dating to their arrival from Kansas City in 1985, was over.

As Kings fans there is only one thing we can do to help our team and that is show support! No excuses, go to games this year!! We're supposed to have home court ADVANTAGE - not home court empty arena! Everyone should try to go to a few more games than they went to last year. If you went to 2 go to 5. If you went to 5 go to 8. Ect ect ect!

Just go! It's great for family events, date nights, work team building, church trips, field trips for the kids, and much more! This team and the owners have poured themselves into the community and it's time for us to give back!!

Hope to see everyone at the games this year! And Go Kings!

last year was terrible. the team really sucked and as much as i wanted to support them. i didn't want to go watch a horrible product that had nowhere to go but down. i'll be attending some games this year as they finally realized and moved towards rebuilding with some exciting young players.

I know what you mean. The games I went to last year were certainly hard to watch at times. But it's starting to look like we are finally putting some exciting players on the court and rebuilding with our youth!

We've still got our stud Kevin Martin. Jason Thompson and Spencer Hawes are going to keep getting better. Tyreke Evans already looks like a budding star and Omri looks to be GREAT value in what was supposedly a weak draft class.

Imagine how much better our team will play with a little bit of good ol fashioned Arco Arena energy pumping through their veins!!

Ill do that when the Kings drop all the wienies off the team (hawes etc).

I dont want to support haweful basketball where noone is trying to play hard.

that wussy crap we saw last year was straight up disrespectful to the fans

I criticized Hawes and my son said the same thing. My reply: "It's sad when you have to build up a professional athlete by saying he could whoop your Dad"

Hawes is probably better at his job than most of us were at ours job when we were 21.

And that, boys and girls, is the textbook definition of:

Are you kidding??? So, what??? Little do you know, the economy does have something to do with it and if the Kings had a good product then I think fans would take the chance on buying tickets. But coming across as saying so what???? That's a little lame.

I disagree. He made it clear WHY he said "so what" with his next sentences...

The whole theme of his post is predicated on his belief that if we don't come out this year and support the team we may not have too many chances left. IMHO that's pretty far from lame...

lol are you kidding me?

Take a deep breathe and relax fellow Kings fan. If you would have read the whole post instead of just 2 words you would easily see that I was not merely being dismissive of the economic situation, but rather begging my fellow Kings fans to come out and support the team.

But still, sheesh dude

THANK YOU!!

Someone excelled at reading comprehension in high school!

Anyways, this thread has been seriously derailed! Back to the topic! Come out and support our Kings!

Effort and hustle, even in defeat, is always a catalyst in raising attendance.

I agree. I also think showing the Kings the community still cares and has their back will be a great way to infuse some energy and hustle into the team - hopefully spurring that effort and hustle!

I'll try to go to some games. I only got to go to the Vlade game, which was a good game even though we lost btw. I was going to go to the Webber game but I was really sick with bronchitis during that time so I missed out. Oh well, I'll do my best this year.

whatever man, I wasn't aware that the word 'dude' was strictly masculine. Sorry if I'm not on the MB enough to know she is a she.

Don't worry about it. Hell, I'm an old lady and I have young male and female friends calling me dude all the time. It beats the hell out of dudette. lol

It seems that the term dude has become genderless.

Which parallels the term 'kings fan' which is ageless and genderless!

Yes, I did read his post. However, the economy is very bad and many cannot attend no matter how hard they want to but due to the economy, many people don't have that option.

It also beats the hell out of some other things they could be calling us, fellow dude.

;)

Okay, here's the deal. The thread isn't about the economy, it's not about reading comprehension. It's about a fan stating his feelings and hopes that fellow Kings fans will be able to come out and support the Kings. Let's just leave it at that...

LET'S GO KINGS!!!

It's one of the perks of being a KF veteran. You get to have a little chuckle when a newer member unintentionally makes an erroneous assumption about the gender of a more tenured member.

:)

As a fellow junior dudette I will vote for dude over dudette any day.

Some people really can't afford to go, no matter what regardless of whether the economy is good or bad. That's as obvious as the nose on anyone's face. They also can't afford to go to the ballet, opera, rock concerts, Disney on Ice, the Wiggles, the Music Circus, traveling Broadway shows, the Harlem Globetrotters, art galleries, football or baseball games, etc.

I've been there and done that. I could not afford to go to Kings games (or much else, including movies) for years as a single mother. When I finally had some discretion, I went with $10 tickets for quite a while. Now I can splurge for a few games at slightly higher prices.

I'm sure that WileyVet wasn't saying, "go spend money you don't have." I think he was directing his plea more to fans who do have a choice, to please make a choice to go to Kings games more. I plan on doing that, because I'm fortunate enough to be able to make that choice. It means there are other things I won't be able to do, but nothing that isn't discretionary anyway. I'll probably treat my son and DIL to a couple more games this year, too.

I'll make the choice to spend more discretionary funds that way, because its my team and I am worried that the NBA will force the Kings to move if attendance continues to be lousy. I don't want to lose my home team. The only way I can show meaningful support is to spend a little money. Besides, I really miss the old packed, noisy days. And it really doesn't matter to me, if they are good right now. Plenty of fans continue to support their teams bad or good, whether its basketball, football or baseball. Fans don't have to support bad teams. That's the kind of fan I am.

And I'd rather be a dude than a dudette any day.
