Kings Fans At Playoffs

yes it might be to early to talk about playoffs since we havent clinched a playoff spot yet, but we have 11 games left, i cant see us completely bombing and losing more than half of them.

but i want to discuss the fans that go to arco during the playoffs. do you remember only a few years ago when we played such a big role in the name of the kings? the kings fans were the kings too. remember when we got so rowdy in the stands with cowbells and we actually affected the opposing teams. remember when dallas tried to copy us by brining cowbells to their home games. remember phil jackson with the ear plugs. remember when you couldnt hear the commentators on tv because the crowd was so absolutely loud and in the corner of the screen they showed how many decibels it was inside the arena? remember when going to a game wasnt to watch the kings play but to help them win? or at least we all had that mentality that we were pumping our team full of energy. the past few years it seems like arco during the playoffs have been more sane or more like regular nba arenas during the playoffs. there have been times where you can actually talk to someone around you about the game. NO! arco was so loud back then, you couldnt hear anything but that surging energy. yes the webber era is gone and we may be in the process of rebuilding a team but we are sacramento kings fans, we stick with our team through thick and thin. now alot of people are still the rowdy fans i remember, that would kill for that team down on the court, but this is for those of us who wont punch their hand through a wall if the kings lose, those who leave games with 5 minutes left to beat the traffic. this is arco, where we have a repulation of being the most savage fans in the league. so when youre going to the playoffs this year, or next year, or anytime in the future... when you check your coat pocket to make sure you have your keys and your ticket... check to make sure you have your cowbell as well.

If someone sitting next to me spent the game ringing a cowbell in my ear I would probably break their bell-ringing arm and shove the obnoxious instrument up someplace where the sun don't shine. So be careful who's ear you ring that thing in. ;)

GO COWBELL!!! (But the luster has been somewhat lost because of the lack of the Lakers and Phil Jackson in the playoffs this year)

Cow bells are old school... at the Dallas game some Yahoo sat 3 rows behind me with one and yes there was a nearly over whealming urge to force feed it to him. Of course I have taken to bringing a duck call that I blow every time Tag hits the court or scores... you can hear that thing all over ARCO... that is you could ifI ever got a chance to blow it... oh well... go kings.

I like the Duck call idea, if we could only get the word out... Maybe the maloof's could spring for 17,000 of them for the fans... That would be cool....

I'll bring the cowbell.

I remember last camp I asked vlade and peja to sign it...

Good lord... don't give them a cowbell.

Peja started yelling out Opa Opa!!! (which means Hello in Greek)

He was dancing and ringing the cowbell. Those were the days... :D

Cowbells don't make ARCO THUNDER. Cheering from the time the team steps onto the court until the last buzzer has sounded is what makes ARCO special. Not sitting on your hands but screaming "de-fense" and cheering loudly for every Kings possession is what makes ARCO special. I would personally much rather people left the cowbells at home - since they probably won't allow them in anymore anyway - and plan on clapping until their hands are beet red and yelling until their vocal cords are completely and utterly gone.

GO KINGS!!!

its not really that the cowbells made arco, they were just symbolic with arco back then. i miss that collective energy that was the highest feeling of community ive ever felt. yes there are certain times when arco is still "rockin" but compared to the 02 season, we are just another arena cheering for our team imho

You forgot the fact that the folks up stairs are on wooden platfoms so when they stomp collectivly there is THUNDER!

when they walk on to the floor for team warm ups and the crowd stands to it's feet and begins the cheering. Screaming, waving a towel and clapping your hands while the team does a lay up drill. Standing and cheering 20 minutes before the game starts that is Arco.

BRING IT BACK!

That's what I'm talking about!

:D

As far as the cowbells go, I have to seriously wonder if they will any longer allow people to bring in fairly heavy metal objects that can be hurled towards the court.

My voice is still recovering from games 3 and 6 against the T Wolves and the Peeler/Garnett ripoff, but I'm ready to go again! Who cares what BSPN and the networks say about the Arco fans. We don't need to throw things on the court, but we DO NEED to INTIMIDATE the opposition into a few turnovers to help our team! Lock and Load Arco, LET'S ROLL!!!

Please no cowbells.... They are horrible....

theres noting like the human voice, the stomping of feet and clapping with the chant of DE-FENSE!!!!!! THATS ARCO THUNDER!!!!!!!!!

BRING IT BACK!

I still struggle with the 'clap your hands AND wave your towel' routine. It isn't easy, as I only have two hands and need them both for clapping. Perhaps I need one of those beanie propeller hats, rigged up with a towel and some sort of battery power source?
I like the clappers we got for Game 7 of the Laker series. They were LOUD. I had blisters for weeks, but it was worth it.

dont you remember when arco thunder was stomping your feet. seems that all it is now is a bunch of yelling. when big mike says lets hear that arco thunder, i feel like im the only one that still stomps my feet

I don't know where you're sitting but you're by no means the only one stamping your feet. True, there are some fans who no longer cheer with the same kind of fervor they used to show, but a lot of that depends on the opponents. It may not be right, but people just don't get that into games against the average teams.

Tonight's game is going to be loud. And the playoffs will be the way the playoffs always are.

It's not like Arco has suddenly become a tomb.

this is true but its not like 02. that was arcos and the kinngs glory years. but joe somebody was not traded to another arena for john doe. the fans are still the same, and if anything the numbers of us have only increased. it was only 3 years ago but theres a difference today from then. of course playoffs are always the most exciting and the most energetic part of the year. but when youve been there during the best, its hard to not want it again.
