So I guess this means I have to buy a jersey this year before the advertising goes on.

The NBA's pilot program makes it optional to sell the logo on retail jerseys at their own team store, so it seems like the ad-less jerseys will still be the most prominent ones.

I almost did a spit-take with my meal when I read this. Hilarious. All a ploy to confuse Draymon Green. He will never know where to hit our players.
The writing may be on the wall, but I don't have to like it, or even feel okay about it.This is coming guys. All across the NBA, Silver+ the NBA have sold their dignity, so you will see much much more of this.
And really, given that this is coming, that little patch is about as classy and inconspicuous as you could hope for. Wait until Tide and Depends start to get involved.
What's next? We require that the Kings players actually eat the nuts? Fine them if they don't?I'm pleasantly surprised in how this looks. They accomplished it without it looking tacky or too out of place.
I only have 2 critiques of it:
1) It's a bit larger than I'd like. I was hoping for something that fit like the Sixers Stub Hub patch.
2) The navy blue clashes with the purple. If the patch was purple to match the uniform, it'd look so much better.

I hate the whole idea. Is the NBA becoming NASCAR? Is Sacramento really that hard up for cash? If this is "progressive" management count me out.
This was a long time coming. Can't say I'm surprised...look at Soccer jerseys and their sponsorships, for example; View attachment 5780
and this...![]()
ain't got nothing on the true Kings of sponsorship:

And I pity the kids and adults who don those jerseys which are just advertisements for international companies who don;t even have any foothold in America. This was a long time coming. Can't say I'm surprised...look at Soccer jerseys and their sponsorships, for example; View attachment 5780

Do the fans know how dumb they look sporting logos for foreign companies in the guise of a team jersey?
I don't see what's wrong with it, if it benefits the NBA/owners/players than 1 couple logo's is fine, the UFC did the opposite thing where fighters are no longer allowed to have anything other than Reebook gear and it made them way poorer and was horrible for the fighters. More money from sponsors in particular for markets that are not doing well/not selling out can be beneficial since it gives the team extra money to do the little things to make a quicker turnaround.Don't buy the jerseys than. Only way to voice your disapproval as a fan. When the majority of the fanbase starts to boycot the jerseys with advertising it might lead to the owners thinking twice about sponsorships.
But coming from a European scoccer background I wouldn't get my hopes up, if I were you. Most of the fans will buy the jerseys nonetheless. They simply don't care about the advertising and in a few years it will be a absolutely normal part of the jersey, allowing the owners and players to make even more money.

I see no reason why not to buy the jersey
