What people aren't getting is it doesn't matter if Jimmer is better than Ray. We've all but handed Jimmer his walking papers. He's not going to be back next season. Ray McCallum on the other hand will be. And in a season where we aren't competing for a playoff spot, we absolutely should be playing the guys who will be back next season.

The Jimmer/Ray comparison is only important because: If Jimmer is a bust. And Ray isn't better than Jimmer. Then? I think it's important to management to see what Ray does so they know if they have a dire need next year for a backup point guard (or if IT isn't around, a starter and a backup pg).

I'll put this here since this thread is apparently the Jimmer thread now.

I've made no secret that I started closely following the Kings after they drafted Jimmer. I was as high on the kid as anyone and still count myself as a fan of his game. This is my post-mortem on his three years with the Kings.

Jimmer was drafted to be the wingman for Tyreke. He came in more raw than people expected and had trouble finding his shot. When Westphal was fired, any plans that he had for a Jimmer/Tyreke pairing went out the window. Smart put his faith in IT because, frankly, IT was a better point guard than Jimmer. I disagree with that decision, not because IT wasn't good and Jimmer wasn't bad, but because it alienated Tyreke and he was a far better two-way player than IT will ever be.

But that move taking Tyreke off the ball was the death knell for Jimmer as part of the future of the Kings. Without Tyreke handling the ball, Jimmer had no place on the team. His weaknesses were too glaring, and his strengths were duplicative with Thornton and IT who were more complete players.

Kudos to the kid for improving his game. I think he has a future in the league, if not as a starter, then as a third guard in a short rotation or as a sixth man bench gunner where the rotation allows for it. I think he'll find a home, if not stability in the league, but he has been a bad fit for Sacramento for about two and a half years now. It would have been nice to see him go to a team in trade, but he'll get his chance next year and I hope he lands on his feet.

That's the last I will write on the subject. Swearsies.
