[KINGS] Comments that don't warrant their own thread (2025-26)

Smart move. We oopsed a win last time - can't let that happen again. (Seriously though, looking forward to Nique getting some minutes, but what's Ellis gotta do?)

Wins are fine, if development is made a priority and guys who might actually be on this team in 2 years are on the floor getting better.

Where myself (and others) get frustrated is when we do spike a random win with Russ at 40 minutes, LaVine 38, DDR 37, etc. Those are the pointless wins

It’s also the face I make when someone makes one of the following engagement farming posts:

“So like, a hot dog is totally a sandwich”

“I don’t care what y’all say, Diehard IS a Christmas movie lolz!!

“I went to Chipotle today and they flipped that iPad on me and wanted how much tip?!!? For who? For what? 🤣🤣🤣🤣

First Mike Brown is fired. Then De'Aaron Fox forces himself out of Sacramento.

Less than a year later, they face each other in the NBA Cup Final. Mike Brown's team wins.

Sacramento, meanwhile, is mired in misery.

And like usual self imposed misery compounded by suppressing a youth movement. This is a 20 year thing, nothing to see here, lol.

From beam team to this in a very short time. Wonder if Vivek ever thinks to himself that he effed up

Probably not, because he removed 2 people who probably said no to him for the first time in his tenure as an owner. He's got his "yes men" installed now

We can only hope that Perry delivers on a plan and that we get some luck in the draft finding our next star or stars. And Perry has HIS head coach lined up. It’s all we got

Theres a lot of smoke on Kings players being shopped around. Its on Perry to be able to close these deals

It blows my mind thinking about how we had a 40+ win team with fairly young pieces and at the first sign of adversity Vivek blew it all up so we could be a bottom-dweller with a nursing home roster running the show.

The DDR acquisition was a mistake, but a fixable one if everyone remained calm.

Somehow we compounded the issues by losing Fox for LaVine and adding Russ and Dennis.

I hope the full story comes out eventually at what happened. If this was all because Vivek wanted Doug from the start and Domas was upset with Mike Brown and was also pushing for Doug and that situation resulted in Fox wanting out… yikes.

Mr. Monk is once again on the trade block, according to Evan Sidery. That's partly because he is younger than LaVine and DeRozan and still brings value to those teams trying to make and advance in the playoffs.

After watching Anunoby in the NBA Cup, it’s sad to think we were a Huerter/Pick(s) for Anunoby trade away from the following roster…

PG - Fox / Mitchell
SG - Ellis / Monk
SF - Murray / Barnes
PF - Anunoby / Lyles
C - Sabonis / Len
The Raptors were apparently asking for Keegan in an OG trade though

OG told that he would sign only with the Knicks and Kings were never in the conversation. We were in the Siakam trade talks but it fizzled out at the last minute.

Good news is we can probably keep him and tank

Domas on ice for the year, sign Keon to an extension, get a top 4 pick, add Boozer/AJ/Wilson to plug at the 4 or Peterson and go Max/Domas in the front-court:

PG: ?? || Carter
SG: Keon || Nique
SF: Keegan || Nique
PF Rookie
C: Domas || Maxime

Top 4 pick and actually just committing to our defensive young guys with Domas still on board could see this thing actually turn around in record time. Hopefully we're able to stack some sort of draft capital from LaVine/DDR/Monk/Russ going out in trades.

If Sabonis wants out a Sabonis for garland swap would be nice which could happen with the disappointing season Cleveland is having

I've always felt that Domas, Keegan, Keon would be an interesting core to pair with a high draft pick. And now we have Max in the mix too! Not to mention intriguing complimentary prospects in Devon and Nique.

Obviously depends on our continued suckitude this season + lotto luck, but if you squint you can see a quick rebuild.

Come on. Vivek didn’t decide to blow it up until Perry shoved it in his face.

The problem again was stupid drafts and worst trades. The Monte era had a chance to be good but between bad picks, horrible trades and contract over signings he managed to leave a roster with very little in the way of good assets. The failure to trade Barnes for assets then 2 years later dumping him for a swap, the drafting of Davion and signing of Sabonis to a huge number (instead of getting a free agent) were key pivot points.

Dave rightly compares the moves to Brewster’s Millions. This board underestimates how bad the Monte era was.

Malik Monk spoke to Coach Christie about his role on the team and says he is still "1000% confused."

Aren't we all?

ClutchPoints comments (emphasis added):

"It's borderline coaching malpractice for someone like Monk to be playing zero minutes in 2025. He's not washed up; he's shown when he gets minutes that he can still fill up the scoring column and be a spark plug for a Kings team in dire need of some energy and winning basketball.

Monk is a not a superstar, but considering how well he's played for the Kings over the past few seasons, one would think that he would be getting more respect than he has thus far this season. He's a prime change of scenery candidate who should flourish once more when he gets traded away."

Another stupid move by Christie. Monk deserves better.

Malik had an audition of sorts a few games ago against Denver, when he played extended minutes as a point guard with the rookies in the fourth quarter. His stat line showed 5 assists and 5 turnovers. A few passes meant for his teammates went into the stands. That may mean he flunked the audition. But as I pointed out in the game thread, he is not familiar with their games, except for Ellis. It takes time to create that precise on-the-court chemistry and motion. Not incidentally, Monk also shot 50% from three in that game, scoring 18 points.
