So I watched 'A Clockwork Orange' today. Good movie, but I can't really relate to it. An interesting thing that made me think of the Kings: The main guy gets out of 'rehab' and runs into his former friends who are hooligans-turned-cops and the cops beat the crap out of him. It reminds me of the former player curse, which works in two different ways: The kings face a player who used to play with them and said player destroys them a la Tony Delk or Cuttino Mobley, or after a player leaves they are useless to any other team they try to play for a la Cwebb or Doug Christie or Mitch Richmond.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Kings played one of their better games offensively, largely thanks to Jumpermania, which has been one of the bad things about this season. The Nets kinda sucked themselves to a loss, but don't get me wrong. The Kings WON the game, meaning they did what they had to do and their defense in the 4th was as good as i've seen it all year.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Nets have the same problem the Kings have. That is, all their best players pretty much play the same position, but the Kings have a quality center. But to make my point:
Kidd > Bibby (hurt) |pg
Carter = Martin (hurt) |sg
Wright < Salmons |sg/sf
Jefferson < Artest |sg/sf
Williams > Douby |pg/sg
Nachbar < Cisco |sg/sf

and the Kings have Dahntay Jones, who has been good so far

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jumpermania finally paid off because the Kings shot 52% from three, but they were wide open. Meaning nobody in the same area code, so I don't blame them. And the cool thing is that they didn't take the open shot all the time. Most of the time they would make the extra pass or pump fake and take it to the rim. This was encouraging to see.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I hope every team that the Kings play from now on play like the Nets on defense. Besides Sean Williams (beastly,) no body decided to guard anybody on defense for the Nets. Take John Salmons for example. After his first few shots, I just felt as though he was gonna have a career game. You know that feeling. Nobody on the Nets wanted to guard him. Even Kidd, who is their best perimeter defender couldn't really handle him. Also I don't know why he can get to the rim so easily, he's not especially quick, and his first step isn't really tough. I guess he is just really deceptive with his eyes and his shoulders
------------------------------------------------------------------
Artest guarded Carter for a lot of the night as far as I saw, which was the wrong matchup. Carter may be the better player, but Jefferson is the better scorer. Salmons did alright on Jefferson, and 11 of his 36 came from the line. Carter played like crap largely because of Artests presence, which is great because its near Christmas. If only Jason Kidd had a consistent jump shot... I mean he almost had a triple double and he wasn't really trying. He's good and he need's to find his way on to the Celtics.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I am rooting for the Kings to make playoffs. I don't want to get a high draft pick or any of that because this draft is only decent. Michael Beasley is the only guy that I see that could really lift this team. OJ Mayo I don't want to touch because this Kid is completely full of himself. He refers to himself in the third person. http://dwil.wordpress.com/2007/03/22/o-j-mayo-knows-more-than-you-do/ Derrick Rose is nice, but not worth tanking for. Right now half of the NBA is in the middle record-wise and I'm waiting for some of those teams to break out, and I think if the Kings can tread water until they are healthy, than they can be one of those teams. Reggie is doing better with this injured team than Musselman did last year with a healthy roster. I think Kevin and Mike could add such a huge lift to this team once they come back. The defense is swarming and fun to watch, the offense is finally coming together, and the Kings have beaten a lot of teams that they had no business beating (on paper anyway) and they have lost some really close games. They could easily be .500 right now. Oh and Salmons and Chris Kaman are the only candidates so far for most improved player in my book.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The Bucks are one of the teams in the NBA with a worse starting front court (SF/PF/C) than the Kings. The Nets are one of them, the Sixers are one of them, the Wizards are one of them, The Hawks maybe, maybe the Lakers. What am I saying, of course the Lakers. My point it the Kings have a weak front court, but it was worse last year. Mikki Moore is proving his worth every game. I hated this signing at first because he dropped every freaking pass, but now the team is used to what he does, and while he may not put up a lot of numbers, at least he is there, unlike KT who would just not do anything during long stretches last year. Mikki is doing stuff even when he isn't putting up stats. Not only that, but he is bringing energy to the bench area which desperately needs it. Another thing. Justin Williams is always talking to the team during time outs, leading the hand yell thing. Cmon Reggie give him some time.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
AWARD TIME

TDM goes to Sean Williams who the Kings would love to have but just isn't good enough to warrant a top ten pick

LW-VC Josh Boone who did a whole lot of nothing out there.

SAR - Methuselah award goes to KT because it's just getting to the point where Reggie should just try Justin because he couldn't possibly do worse than KT.

-------------------------------------------------------------
Bucks are up, and Redd will probably have a better game. Luckily their front court is the worst in the NBA. Bogut is one s away from Bust if you remove the O and the G. Bobby Simmons should be the example for every GM of who not to sign after a career year. And Mo Williams is nice. I wish the Kings couldv'e gotten him somehow, and he is putting up numbers for my fantasy team.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Ron - Another bad shooting night, but the luck of the three pt shooting rubbed off on you too I guess
Beno - don't sit out, I need assists for fantasy purposes. also the team needs you
Salmons - encore
Mikki - he takes what they give him. even 17 million dollars
Brad - top ten center right now maybe?

Hawes - meh
Cisco - El Flaco strikes from deep.
Jones - there you go
Douby - wild
Justin - you can't block shots from the bench without it being a technical foul and hilarious
rest - whatever

Coach T - good defensive scheme against them last time. try not to do too much zone though
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Bucks back court is killer and that is the only reason they have the same record as the Kings. Redd will score 20 but he will have a tough time getting there. Brad will have another double double. The man is dialed in right now. Bogut is going to suck, Jianlian is a rookie and he might make a few jumpers, Williams will be there best player and Desmond Mason will get a breakaway dunk

Interesting note: Bucks have been awful on the road: 2-12.

But the Bucks have the 5th best home record in the league: 8-2.

We and the Bucks are nearly identical. Both teams are 10-14, we are 8-4 home, 2-10 road. They are 8-2 home, 2-12 road.
