Who cares.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
On January 12th 2003 Kings beat Grizzlies 106 - 98 at ARCO to improve to decent 28-10 for the season. Kings won the 1st quarter 37-24 and there was no coming back for the Grizzlies who had most of the stats on their side but Kings forced enough turnover to keep the distance until the end of the game. We had 32 assists on 44 FGs. Pedja lead Kings with 30/8/2/2, Webber had 22/10/6 but shot Iverson-like 10-27 keeping Grizzlies close for most part of the game. Bibby had 17/3/6/2, DC had 13/6/9/4 and Vlade had 9/10/6. Bobby scored 9 points off the bench.

Peja Stojakovic is finding his form at just the right time. Stojakovic scored a season-high 30 points as the Sacramento Kings opened a big lead and held on for their fifth win in six games, a 106-98 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies. An All-Star for the first time last season, Stojakovic was bothered by a left ankle injury in the playoffs, missing six games. He spent the summer helping his native Yugoslavia win the World Championships but never fully recovered from the injury. This season, Stojakovic missed 10 games with plantar fasciaitis in his right foot. He came in averaging just under 16 points per game, more than five points off last season's pace.

"In this league, you let a team get their head up a little bit - and they got their heads up - they made it a lot harder than it had to be," Kings coach Rick Adelman said.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kings increased their home losing streak to 3 games dropping to 14-18 for a season which sucks. We are only 5 games ahead of the Grizzlies and 4 games ahead of the Sixers which gives us enough time to suck ourselves into a very good draft pick which we will then trade for a brand new 6'7 power forward. If we get really unlucky we could make a push for the playoffs in which we will get killed in front of national audience. We played 8 more home games and we are 10-10 at ARCO so it is a time for a endless losing streak mixed with couple of trades. We need a change here.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
It is "Ctrl-Alt + Delete time." for the Sacramento Kings. This is just unbearable to watch and to experience. It is one of those moments where You just have to laugh to avoid crying but the tears are still coming out. It isn't even about losing anymore and there will be plenty more of that in the near future. It is about not having a purpose. Watching all the losses while developing players and rebuilding would also be hard but we would work towards something. Watching all this while - Mo Taylor "dominates" paint, KT misses layups, SAR sucks, Bibby fails to guard a broken piano chair, Brad grabs a rebound every leap year, Ron is being Ron and Muss continues to showcase his incompetence - is that much worse and I want no part of it. Time to restart the computer and start over.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lebron seams like an okay player. We could use one of those even tough it would be hard to find minutes for him on this roster. It isn't that hard to get a player like that. You just have to suck really bad for one season, get lucky in the lottery and then make a right decision. As for the Kings - the sucking part is easy. We are loaded with talents like KT, Hart, Taylor, and the rest. You add a "future hall of famer" coach and You have a real "we suck" all star team on Your hand. If this team can turn this sucking a notch - we can at least build up some hope for the future.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Quick fix" could be another way to extend this agony. We couls sign some free agents and soon to be free agents. Imagine the lineup Francis, Spreewell, Van Horn, Webber and Taylor. With Hart, Thomas off the bench - it is almost a first pick guarantee. Almost - because You still have to hit the lottery. Such team would be perfectly capable to lose all the games that we have left this season. We could keep Kevin and trade the rest for "picks." At least the summer would be interesting.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Having a NBA league pass is turning out to be a nightmare. No only am I able to see Kings suck but also I get to see other teams playing good basketball. Makes it even worse. Additionally, to make things worse - You have to watch Kings lose while listening to the comentary coming from the "other" team. It is amazing how many retards get such jobs. For a second there - I caught myself thinking - "Man, Walton isn't so bad after all." And no - I am not on drugs - yet.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Garbage time - by definition - time at the end of the game when it is already decided in which the members of "Mateen Cleaves" all start team get their chance to showcase why they don't play more. Kings are redefining the term these days. Garbag time starts much earlier for the Kings these days - usually in the first quarter when Muss brings Mo Taylor. The garbage time peaks in the beginning of the 3rd quarter and it doesnt stop. There is a one half mandatory garbage time per Kings game this season. Garbage time in this case is not defined by the game situation. It is defined by garbage in Kings uniform, whose effort, talent and performance is garbage at best. The coach is garbage to, maybe evene bio-degradable. Kings badly need a garbage man before we suffocate in this garbage.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
ARCO used to be a place where teams would come and lose and go home feeling glad hat it is over. We are 10-10 in there this season and teams can't wait to play us and they don't want to leave anymore. For any bad teams out there - if You are in desperate need for a road win just come to ARCO and wait till the 3rd quarter. We will give it to You whether You want it or not. Maybe Kings should start using the "guest" locker room at ARCO and while we are at it we should attend the pre game and half time speaches by the opponent coaches. I am sure that our players would learn more about themselves doing that. Lisening to Muss is just waste of time.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Muss outdid himself again. His half time speac must have been something. Are they putting sleeping pills in the gatorade ? Were they blackmailed ? I don't know. Muss must have made the watch Titanic during the break because the way they came out after the half - made even Titanic look like a fairy tale. We should hire another coach for the 2nd half starting at the half time break. Carrot top should be cheap enough. Muss looks like he is lost in space and time - probably sponsored by Jagermeister.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
We played a very good first half and then didn't play much in the second half at all. Cavs might be the best in the east right now but they sure didn't impress much. Lebron only needed one good half to put us away and we helped a lot. Gooden and "Z" did what they wanted all night long. Kevin lead the Kings in rebounding and it wans't even close. And yes - Kevin is still a shooting guard at least for now but as we know - a shooting guard is only 2 spots away from being a power forward. Kings really badly missed Corlis last night. Cavs improved to 7-9 on the road.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
AWARD TIME

TDM was won by Damon Jones the former Kings 3rd string PG. He was unstopable at times and also left al;one all the time. Why the hell not ?
LW-VC award went to SAR who showed that he doesn't deserve to start not that it really would make a difference. He was a waste of time the 18 minutes he played.
JHA goes to the whole team for their 2nd half performance. That was very impressive.
Muss - DNC - CD from the half time break to the end of the game.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Blazers are next and they won at ARCO not that long ago. They suck but so do we. Who ever sucks less will win a very meaningless game. The game might go to OT but it will be ugly all the way trough. At this point - is there really a point in discussing a staregy. We already know that 3rd quarter will not be pretty. We know tha Mo Taylor will dominate the paint. We pretty much know everything except why we are stillvwatching this.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mike - way to show leadership in the 3rd quarter
Ron - he is currently located in Lebron's left pocket
Kevin - maybe next year kid
Brad - solid fantasy numbers and I really can't ask for more. Well I could but it wouldn't make any difference.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Corliss - we need You back and soon
KT & Taylor - can we buy them out or something
SAr - disappointing
Salmoms - lot of nothing in 24 minutes
rest - wgatever
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Muss - what is Lenny Wilkins doing these days ?
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Blazers suck but they are at least young. Randolph will abuse us and Joel won't have another bad game against us. Roy wll defend his TDM, Kings forward will get LW-VC award and chances for JHA award are also decent. At this point - I don't care if they lose as long as they don't almost win.

Solid gold...

Usually I try to be a bit more positive than Piksi, but that was one of the funniest things i've read for a long time.

could someone post what the awards stand for?

LW-VC=Luke Walton Vacuum Cleaner award, for when Luke sucked real bad vs Kenny and Kenny ended up with a tripple double.

TDM=Tony Delk Memorial award, for when a scrub/not star player goes off against the Kings. Dony Delk scored 50 vs us once.

JHA=Jason Hart award, this is self explanatory.

I think it's officially time to either sticky what the awards mean, or Piksi at the bottom of every game thread will have to say what they mean.

oh man...

so i'm going to this game. look for me, i'm not sure if the sacramento TV looks for kings fans int he crowd or what. i'm sitting in the upper tank, and i'll have a purple mike bibby road jersey. i want to make a sign, but i'm not sure if i'll have time. either way, i'll be there, i'll be loud, and i'll be representing on the road, even thought the kings stink this year. eh those years happen i guess

get me a win kings!

On a side note did anyone hear on KHTK that there was a coachie sighting in Sacramento by Coach T today? He will be at the game tomorrow, which is aweseome, because I'll be at the game.

Coachie is doing some consulting work for the Kings, and working out a Chinese player? Coach T said he wasn't really clear, but he did mention a Chinese player.

Best practice of the season?

So they come out, turn the ball over 14 times in one half, shoot 42%, and are down 2 to one of the worst teams in the league.

Oh yea...

I noticed one thing. The Kings have sure learned to NOT play aggressive defense inside. The two fouls and you go to the bench is so ingrained in them Kevin started for the sidelines when he was mistakenly called for his second, knowing Musselman would pull him. And why exactly was Artest on the bench for so long? Well, because he has two fouls...

Grrrrrrrrrr.

lol Musselman is killing this team.

Maybe he's recommending new candidates for the soon-to-be-vacant head coaching position?

and yes, before I get blasted, that's my opinion. I think Musselman is a failed experiment and if they do keep him, it's only because he's the "rebound romance" coach. You know, like when you break off a long-term relationship, have a rebound romance and then find another long-term relationship...

If Musselman is around for the rebuilding I will be totally and completely amazed, astounded, shocked and stunned.

and I agree with BMiller52. This team, although I love them, sucks.

I want signs made that tell the players NOT to go into the locker room at half-time and to, more than anything else, avoid drinking the Prozac kool-aid.

Well I'm not going to say that Musselman is the patron saint, but this is not all his fault. You may not like his style, but a lot of people complained about Rick Adelman's style. So, what exactly do all you people want?? It sounds like belly-aching for the sake of belly aching.

I can guess though when people would stop griping about the coaching though...when the team become's a successful winning team, and THAT will take a better group of players as a whole. Then whoever the coach is will be the savior, whether it's Musselman or not. And, I think that's a complete joke.

I hope coachie is recommending new candidates or something. This team can't go on with Musselman. The guy is just a horrible coach. If he wants to remain with the organization after we hire a new coach, he'd be a good statistician:o

DocHoliday - I didn't complain about Adelman. I was quite happy with his style. And that, once again, isn't the point. The point IMHO is that Musselman is NOT competent enough to take a struggling team and give them an identity. Which is what this group of young men needs more than anything else. If you want to call that belly-aching, feel free.
