Kings Best Case Senario 2012 Offseason

Kings4life23

G-League
1. Amnesty John Salmons

2. Sign Eric Gordon(restricted free agent)

3. Sign Gerald Wallace(Player option)

4. Draft Anthony Davis

Starting 5

PG-Tyreke Evans/isaiah thomas/Jimmer
SG-Eric Gordon/Marcus Thorton
SF-Gerald Wallace/Donte Green/Francisco Garcia......................................./Travis Outlaw
PF- Anthony Davis/Jason Thompson/JJ Hickson
C-Demarcus Cousins/Chuck Hayes
Sixth Man- Marcus Thorton

Obviously a lot of things would have to fall are way, but anythings possible. Gordon is perfect next to tyreke great shooter who plays D and is a good facilitator as well. Wallace is the kind of veteran go hard every night glue guy we desperately need. Davis is the shot blocking energizer bunny we need next to Cousins. All these moves shift Thorton to the sixth man role which suits him well a gunner in the Jason Terry Mold. If we can do all of these things I believe we will be a contender. This a Highly Optimistic thread lets keep it that way please lol.

I don't get signing Eric Gordon. I really like him as a player, but he is very similar to Marcus Thorton IMO (a little better, though). I would have no problem with getting Wallace, and would be thrilled if we got the #1 pick and got Anthony Davis. If that happened, we would not keep both JT & JJ. We would either let one of them go or work out a sign-&-trade.

You should also throw in that we would have to outbid the Pacers who are going to throw a ton of money at Gordon in the offseason. He's a good player, but we would have to overpay to get him.

Wallace would be an interesting pickup, but I have my doubts about his fit in an offensive system that needs to be designed around floor spacing. He is a middling outside shooter, and is not as big a threat on the inside/outside game as a healthy Batum.

JJ will be cheaper to retain than JT, because, honestly, who would want JJ right now. I still have hope that JJ will develop into a solid roleplayer with a respectable midrange jumper. This would involve channeling his energy into more productive avenues, and maybe surgically grafted hands.

Mod should change title to kings off season when hell freezes over. We should forget this crap about signing eric gordon and gerald wallace...or even the #1 pick. Our best case scenerario will probably be signing matt caroll and jordan farmar and getting the #6 pick in the draft despite having the 4th woerst record. If were lucky we might horribly overpay for brandon bass.

WTF!?! Why would you amnesty John Salmons. Just trade him and move *UP* in the draft while you do it.

Eric gordon is a great player... imagine a taller marcus thorton who can rebound better and can pass the ball...he averaged over 4apg last year....not to mention he is more consistent. Thorton is good, but gordon is a huge upgrade. That being said, our real need is a sf.

I love how people think it's easy to trade a crappy contract/player and somehow get a draft pick, maybe in the 3rd round, ha!

I'm guessing he was being sarcastic since that is exactly what Millwaukee was able to do last year with John.

Well, yeah, that's what he was doing. But the Bucks actually moved down in the draft, too. They went from #10 to #19, we got Milwaukee's #10 for our #7, Charlotte got our #7 for their #19. With players thrown in all around, of course, but the Bucks didn't dump Salmons and move up.

No we just bent over.

Gordon is as unrealistic as getting Dwight imo.
Not really the beauty of him being restricted is if we make a bid that New Orleans and others wont match hes a King. He has already showed his displeasure of being in New Orleans so I dont think it would take as much as you would think to retain him. Not to mention I really question how much league owned New Orleans is willing to spend to begin with. On another note there really is no comparison between Thorton and Gordon besides the fact that there both great shooters. Gordon is by far the superior player.

I agree with most of this, except for the rebounding and size part. MT is a better rebounder and is actually a little taller than Gordon. Although you can never really get an accurate height on any NBA player.

we just signed Thornton to a decent contract, and we need to go blow near max money on another 2 guard?!? Thats so counter productive. We need a SF, plain and simple, #1 priority. i like eric gordon plenty, but unless thornton goes, he does not belong on this team. it amazes me that some people are still not comprehending this.

Honestly, I don't think that many moves are needed for this team- they have to be strategic though. If it were me, I would take care of the 2012 offseason by making moves now, and Gordon wouldn't be anywhere the team. I'd do 3 moves:

1. Sign free agent SF Wilson Chandler (4 years, 26.5m).
2. Trade SF/SG John Salmons, PF/C Jason Thompson, SG/SF Donte Greene and a conditional pick to NO for F/C Emeka Okafor and SG Xavier Henry.
3. Trade SG/SF Francisco Garcia and PF JJ Hickson to ATL for PG/SG Kirk Hinrich.

New Lineup:
C: Cousins
PF: Okafor
SF: Chandler
PG: Evans
SG: Thornton
----------
6th: Hayes, PF/C
7th: Hinrich, PG/SG
8th: Thomas, PG
9th: Outlaw, SF
10th: Fredette, SG/PG
11th: Henry, SG
12th: Whiteside, C
13th: Free Agent PF

Depth takes a hit, but team definitely develops a new identity and feel. Biggest hit, IMO, is departure of Thompson. Not much size on bench.

Best Secenario:

Lebron James throws a fit in Miami in the off season because he's realized that it's pointless living there because he can't swim and rahter live in a 4 season climate without the snow. It dawns on him that he can become KING James in Sacramento and forces his way over here in a trade for Salmons and a 2nd round pick.

Dwight Howard likes the idea of playing with James and loves the fact that we have a new facility coming into town. So he signs with the Kings for $5million a season for 4 years.

Kobe doesn't like the idea of the Kings getting those players and get real upset with management and wants a trade to what Forbes magazine calls one of the worse/miserable cities to live in. So the Kings trade Jimmer and future pick for Kobe.

Wow, that is the best scenario hands down, great lineup and we didn't give up much.

C - Howard/Whiteside/Hayes
PF - Cousins/Hickson
SF - James/Honeycutt/Greene
SG - Bryant/Thornton
PG - Tyreke/Thomas

We'll make the playoffs, I promise.

I like your thinking. Except for the Kobe thing. I don't care how good he is, I don't want him in a Kings uni. ;)
