Luka made the playoffs in his second year and is legit a top-5 player in the league at 22. He gets some more leeway, and it’s deserved.
While he and Fox would probably fared better together than le genius Vlade decided they wouldn't, don't underestimate the ability of NBA to say screw these guys and make their lives difficult until they can move them to a preferred market.

Yep and Walton is definitely going to think the turn around for the franchise is in the hands Maurice Harkless. I mean, 1 out of 9 ain't bad right? Bye Ty, haha.
Harkless has been a welcome addition at the very least. With a competent coach, this team could be in a similar position to the Mavs in the standings if not a tad bit higher. Unfortunately that’s not the case.

Dude, I'm not a huge fan of Carlisle but I think easily, easily this team is swapped with Dallas if he were the coach of the Kings and yeah, I agree, maybe even a bit higher. Heck, maybe a lot higher. The Kings have way more depth and talent on paper than the Mavs do since Porzingis isn't giving them any impact.

Happily trade this year for the right coach and draft pick next. I don't know how Dallas gets dug out of the unicorn sized hole they dug themselves.

And now I’m just mad about the whole Luka situation again, with a Woss on top of it. Excellent night.
The fact that Dallas seems like they are going nowhere with him fast washes it down easier but knowing its a superstar driven league and we could have had two under control together for 6+ years sucks.

Anyone still want ride the CoJo and a couple of crapty 2nds are better than Wright and TD wave?
Wright I'm not sure about. With the way the team has tanked again that extra money would have been nice. Davis was a good get but the question is what's the price to keep him on. I'm sure he's able to be signed back fairly cheap and 2nds are whatever. The Kings have some nice prospects from last year sitting on the backburner already and I'm sure still a barrel full of Vlades leftovers waiting to be sold for cash.

Eh, We have the worst coach in the league, an owner delusional and desperate about low seed playoff spots, drafted a bust in that draft and are finishing in NBA limbo (6th-12th in the lottery) for the ninth straight year. I'm not feeling any sting lessening.

If the owner is really that delusional/desperate about making this playin there is no way Luke survived the first losing streak let alone the second. I think he was on board with letting this season play out however it will. The fact that he wasn't willing to go full process doesn't mean he hasn't seen the errs of his previous ways.

you are conflating two things. Ownership got a cash call. Minority owners, either couldn’t or didn’t pony up the dough, Vivek covered the difference. Not sure if that reduced ownership %. Regardless, it was very clear Luke was coaching this season. I think it’s 60/40 he won’t coach next year.

Luke is pretty clearly the difference between 14th in the West and 10th, if ownership wanted it that bad he'd be gone. High millionaires and billionaires are killing it with their investment money in this pandemic. I don't believe Luke's salary is in the way of anything that would increase on court performance if that was the legit goal.

thats not how it works when your business models relies on service. They lost over 100mm on DOCO and the kings.

Kings need to start sitting Fox a bit like OKC is doing with Shai....otherwise as the season winds down they will be racking up more wins. Meanwhile, sharp shooting specialist Buddy Hield with 2 points in 23 minutes of action. puke.
You know they won’t, and you know they’re winning a bunch of meaningless games down the stretch while playoff teams test their stars and smart tanking teams rest their best players.

Ah the joys of being a Kings fan.

unfortunately, you're right. It's what the Kings do, time and time again and such is the circle of life. Forever Irrelevant.

They would probably stand to make more money than the money to fire Walton by getting the playin game. All the money they talk about losing goes across multiple investments outside of basketball operations. I'm pretty sure we added payroll at the trade deadline did we not? We at least took on additional years of guaranteed money. I don't pretend to know the ins and outs of NBA accounting but I don't think basketball decisions are bound by the same COVID panic as the other investments might be. Particularly the retail and real estate ones.

Top 5 offensive player, maybe. But he’s not a 2-way player. Very much like the Bearded Hag in that regard.

Neither are close to as impactful on the defensive end as say KD was for the Warriors during his stint there. Even Steph Curry plays better d most the time.

The way Swipa is playing offensively this season, he’s become a better 2-way player than #77.
