I just can't get behind seeing Metu and Jones get minutes over him. He's raw as heck but his defensive instincts are already there. No point in not playing him even if they are trying to win.

Dude is in a slump, which is almost certainly due to his unhappiness in Sacramento. It's not like the rest of the league doesn't understand this. I am quite confident we can get a better return than THT. I would be mildly surprised if we didn't have at least one or two deals for him already lined up.
And he does serve a purpose in Sacramento, as ling as he is actually playing with effort. He spreads the floor and hits threes. We don't have a lot of players who can do that.
This is what happens when a player is already getting fitted for a new uniform, the same uni his idol wore, then right back to Sac he goes, haha. Little things like that can torch a whole locker room with Luke Walton is the one running the show.
Buddy quit.
Got this game: Sac (105.6) to NYK (112.5).
He literally looks like the only guy on this roster that could protect the paint and protect it at a high level. I’d play himI just can't get behind seeing Metu and Jones get minutes over him. Yep, and honestly I'm surprised he waited this long. He actually beat the odds to some extent.
I’m legit starting to wonder if he quit doing his vaunted pre-game shooting regiment, because he is straight up just shooting at will and missing at will.
This is why you don't mess with someone like Buddy. The way they use him offensively pretty much puts him in a position to work harder than anyone since he's running all over the court to get open and create lanes for others.
All of the FRPs are encumbered until I believe 2026. 2027 is the first one available. Still interested?
Ha! Just a perfect response!Errrr..... not really. 2027.... that's like, 3 GMs and 5 coaches from now!

Never underestimate desperation. Before you know it, Grant and Turner will be walking through those doors. And it’ll set this franchise back another 5 years.
If Fox/Haliburton/Turner/Grant, if that's what they ended up with, can't make the playoffs and actually be really good, then there's no hope. If Monte can pull that kind of package without touching his core and doesn't it's a mistake.

I think in a fresh season, it could. But what's the point? 3.5 back of the 10 seed now. 7.5 back of the 8 seed. And we've spent a majority of the last 2 weeks getting our teeth kicked by opponent after opponent.
If we were somewhere around .500, fine. I still wouldn't like the plan, but you could at least justify the move to break the playoff drought and move forward. But the Kings basically have to start playing perfect basketball now for a slim chance to be an 8 seed.
It would be a two year window for Mitchell and two firsts. Mortgaging the next 5 yrs to treadmill.

What a terrible season. I knew we were still going to be bad with this roster but I didn't think we would be trending into "worst team in the Western Conference" territory before the trade deadline.
I will confess that I had strong hopes this season. Some seasons past too, I was optimistic (and one year we did come close to making the PO, except for the descent at the end), but this was my most hopeful season in Luke's term. We had two reasonable drafts over the last 2 years, Hali was coming off a strong rookie season, Davion had a strong summer behind a successful college career, Bagley was healthy, and we seemed to be focusing on defense (at least in talk and thought). Boy, what a let down!

As of now, the THT deal isn't even a workable deal. Till we see which other players/teams are involved to make the salaries work, how much long term salary we add/shed, assets we receive, it's impossible to judge this.
I just don't really see a workable deal at all. We obviously don't really want THT and a bunch of random salary junk for Buddy. But why would anybody else want THT and a bunch of random salary junk for something we'd accept for Buddy? The Lakers' only real asset is an unprotected 2027 FRP, which, seeing that it's the Lakers, and it's infinity years away, isn't really that attractive. They're not going to be making LeBron or Davis available, and I'm pretty sure they were the only franchise in the league who actually wanted Westbrook's contract, so I don't think they can pawn him off. They just have no assets.
Shoot, I'm not even sure I'd take THT + 2027 unprotected for an expiring Tristan Thompson. That $20M or so THT is due the next two years doesn't seem worth it.
But all the instagrammers said THT was gonna be the next Kobe! You wouldn't want to pass up the next Kobe would you?!
