They'd trade for anyone who could actually hit a shot or two at this point. At times, Monk seemed like their only weapon.
They're desperate, that's why if the THT deal is dangled, time to take it. I can see why Monte would drag it out on them though the way they made him look like a complete fool prior to the season.

If only they had like one asset.

The problem is that the Lakers have pretty much no medium sized contracts to work with. They're all either vet minimum salaries or supermaxes aside from Nunn and THT. Makes trading Buddy to them difficult unless we somehow take on half their roster.

The unfortunate thing is that you'd think this six game losing streak would take us right out of play-in contention but the Blazers keep sucking just as much as us and are still somehow only three games up on us for the 10 seed.

Buddy is making $22m this season, in order for a trade to work, we'll have to take on THT ($9m), Nunn ($5m), Howard, Jordan, Anthony, Ellington, Bradley and welcome back Ariza (all making $2m).

So.

Depending on how Portland does, after tonight the Kings will be 3.5 or 4.5 games out of the #10 seed, which, most/all of us will agree, is an absolutely pathetic objective.

SURELY all this will make the Kings Braintrust rethink any inclination they have to prioritize the near future in any dealmaking they do now, right?

Right?

I don't think that's a sufficient return for someone like Buddy. I'm sure there is a better offer out there. I'm ok with Monte holding out for this one. An unprotected FRP in this or next year's draft might sway me.

Edit: I meant to say, as long as there was a third team to provide that FRP. ;)

To me that's fine though, Nunn has a PO next year, and if he takes it oh well, his value isn't far under that anyway as a talent. Breaking up that deal before it becomes immovable is key. This is all damage the Kings did to themselves. Time to pull a Vlade and get out from under it any way they can.

...sigh

Well, another 30 point trucking to add to the pile to show just how far away we are from being a playoff team. So tilting that apparently the only people who can't see it are running/owning the team.

Who knows. Kings have 5 games until the deadline vs BKN, Warriors, Minny twice and OKC. Very likely 1-4 stretch with a few blow-outs thrown in. Is that enough to get this FO off their dumb path?

Yes. What's the other option. Let his contract run out here? Buddy serves zero purpose in Sacramento.
Dude is in a slump, which is almost certainly due to his unhappiness in Sacramento. It's not like the rest of the league doesn't understand this. I am quite confident we can get a better return than THT. I would be mildly surprised if we didn't have at least one or two deals for him already lined up.

And he does serve a purpose in Sacramento, as ling as he is actually playing with effort. He spreads the floor and hits threes. We don't have a lot of players who can do that.

Including
I'd give all of Buddy's minute to anyone not named "Hield". If he wanna go around the states campaigning for a trade, he better be lighting it up. With his performance, I'd send him home early.
Counting tonight, Buddy has 20 games this season where he attempted zero free throws.

One of those games he played less than 18 minutes but most of them he played between 25 and 30 minutes. He even has a game where he played nearly 40 minute without a free throw. And he has had 7 additional games with just a single free throw.

Hield was always a shooter above all else but his game has become incredibly one dimensional at this point.
