Well we don't know what other moves they were thinking about before the deadline ended, so a roster spot, plus getting out of his salary.

But for us, the only thing that mattered was cash.

They're paying luxury tax on his salary, so even if they paid his entire salary they would still save money. There was also the hard cap and roster spot issue.

Right, so my point is I view it more as a salary dump issue because if all they wanted to do was clear a roster spot they could have done it in other ways. Which is not what it sounded like from this line in the article "The Clippers wanted to clear a roster spot and the Kings gladly obliged by taking on Kabengele -- who has played a grand total of 158 minutes in two NBA seasons -- picking up some cold, hard cash for their troubles."
