KINGS ACQUIRE JASON HART FROM CHARLOTTE

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- The Sacramento Kings today acquired the services of guard Jason Hart from the Charlotte Bobcats in exchange for a future second-round draft choice, according to Kings President of Basketball Operations Geoff Petrie.

“Jason had a really terrific season with Charlotte last year,” explained Petrie. “He was third in the league in assist to turnovers. His addition gives us a defensive-minded backup point guard, who has good size and length. He had an improved year shooting the ball. We think he’ll fit in well to our system and style of play.”

Hart, a 6-3, 185-pound guard, averaged 9.5 ppg (.449 FG%, .368 3pt%, .785 FT%), 2.7 rpg, 5.0 apg, 1.34 spg, and 25.5 mpg in 74 games with the expansion Charlotte Bobcats during the 2004-05 season. He ranked third in the NBA in assists per turnover ratio (3.60) and finished among the top 30 in assists (26th) and steals (29th). Hart made 27 starts, averaging 10.6 ppg, 6.6 apg, and 1.1 spg in those contests.

A four-year NBA veteran, Hart began his career with the Milwaukee Bucks, who selected him out of Syracuse University with the 49th overall pick in the 2000 NBA Draft. He saw action in 10 games with San Antonio during the 2000-01 season before playing for the NBDL’s Asheville Altitude during the 2001-02 season. He returned to the Spurs for the 2003-04 campaign before signing with Charlotte as a free agent on July 14, 2004. Hart scored a career-high 21 points versus the Suns (3/23/05) and dished out a career-best 15 assists versus New Jersey (12/21/04).

Yeah, now this was a nice, albeit minor, move. For all intents and purposes just got a useful player for free. A future 2nd round pick and trade exception. Costs us nothing. Just a net gain.

Here a pic I like of him...notice who hes stripping the ball from ;)

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Sounds like a very capable backup PG. How did he pull that one off?

More mad props to GP! :)

Why on Earth did I think that he was white? I'm so confused, is there another Hart in the league?

Seems pretty obvious Charlotte must have just been doing a minor little salary dump since they no longer needed Hart with the rook coming in and Brevin still around.
