Now is when coaching has to be solid. You have to arrange the lineup to get the best blend of our talented players. Keon should start. Monk or derozan should go to the bench. Most of the offense goes through Sabonis anyway. Keegan really needs to step up his shooting. I know derozan may not accept coming off the bench but it’s best for the team
Ellis is a much better ballhandler than Carter at this point. The plan could be to just play those two for all the backup guard minutes, but ideally they'd sign one more guard.
I can't see Ben Simmons signing in Sacramento. It just doesn't fit with what we've learned about him previously. My guess is that he ends up with the biggest market team that offers to sign him.
We should have his Bird rights he played 3 seasons on this contract. But for whatever reason, I guess because 2nd round picks work different, we won't have match rights.

Golly darn, looks like Monte went out and got EXACTLY what we needed: a 3 and D 3/4 with size and elite shooting ability with high upside and youth. And also got the best backup center available. And got both of these payers for almost nothing. What a terrible GM.

I know, but any little bit saved could be towards a buyout candidate. If the Kings are at the luxury tax at the end of these moves then the Kings are for sure done though. They won't go into the tax for a buyout player.

he is about 2” longer than Huerter both in Wingspan and standing reach. That helps. I guess he will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of this year so I hope we can extend him.
So no Bird? The tweet said that LaRavia declined the option, not Memphis? Is there no distinction?

I thought that ended if he got traded? So the new team has to abide by those rules?
I'm anxious about the contract because LaRavia is a legit good prospect that's having a breakout season. Got to have the ability to keep him this summer

Sign him for one year at this and give him more the following year. If he's proved himself this year, and the next, it makes sense for both parties. I don't think we'll be outbid by a ton this summer so it should be good enough for us to get him for another year.

He'd have the second best defensive rating after Keon on the Kings. So in other words, pretty good.

he is a short term rental then an unrestricted free agent. So not sure how cheap or for how long
Now in his third year with the franchise — and set to hit unrestricted free agency at its conclusion — LaRavia is healthier and having by far his best campaign yet.

It depends on what you're looking for. Per minute Carter is the best APG player at guard behind Monk currently. And by a long shot. Carter has a positive assist/to ratio as well. 5/1.9 per 36. Keon is currently at around 2.1/1.3. Keons role has been as a tried and true 3 and D guy though and when he handles he's not really creating looks for others, he's bringing the ball up, or breaking the plane of the paint and dishing back out. Keon and he together should be just fine from the bench especially if the goal is to enter the ball into the big fella.
Memphis team drtg is 4.5 points lower than ours, and I think if I looked at the numbers right he has higher (as in worse) than the team rtg of 110 and change. Ours is 115 and change.

I'm guessing odds are that he's not on the team next year. Either he performs really well for us and someone else picks him up for more than we are allowed to offer, or he falls flat on his face and we don't want him. Even so I guess the only thing of value is the 2nd round pick in the trade... we've blown those for far less so I guess that's OK

Ya know, I've been more critical of Monte these last several weeks but I have to say he's come through for us. Moving Fox while his value was high, bringing in LeVine, getting us some more size while getting rid of good parts that weren't working here... I know he created this undersized roster, but these are all good things.

It doesn't really work like that. Good defensive teams will have lower ratings for all the players. You have to look at where he is in relation to the other players on Memphis that play similar positions. His rating is not quite as good as Pippen Jr, Aldama or Konchar but it's better than Bane, Morant and Smart.

This isn’t a worry, but folks need to be aware of the fact that the kings have been getting older with each trade and so our window gets more narrow unless we build a solid talent pipeline, which comes from good draft picks and a high-quality G league team. Both of which the kings have I’m happy to report

Yeh, I think our best hope is you could convince him to take a deal similar to the one Jalen Smith signed in Indiana, say 2 for 12. He then could he extended or become a free agent at 26.
