Troll much?
I think the intent was clear, meaning Evans is usually charged with guarding the opposition's best player unless he is a post, whereas someone like MT or IT will usually be matched against the weaker player. The problem is when smallball happens, and you can't hide one on the weaker guard.

Exactly right!

How often are we seeing Thornton and IT getting "hidden" on lesser players?! Case in point, why has Thornton always guarded Prince this year? Once is 6'4" and the other 6'9"?!

Out of the starting 3 guard rotation, Evans is by far the best defender. Now if Thornton and IT were not undersized for their position, it might not be too much of a problem but as we are constructed now, we have no flexibility what so ever. Its like shifting chairs on a titanic.

Too complicated for some who don't know what they're watching, and instead resort to using stats completely out of context in an attempt to make a point.

This could be a reason why

Nevertheless, Evans' biggest disappointment remains on the defensive end. He came out of Memphis with the potential to become one of the NBA's best perimeter defenders. He excelled on that end in his lone college season under John Calipari. With his size, stretch, athleticism and wingspan, he seemed like a surefire All-Defense candidate. It just hasn't turned out that way. This season, the Kings are 2.4 points per 100 possessions better on defense without Evans. According to our positional rankings, Sacramento ranks 24th defending point guards and dead last against shooting guards.

Well he spends most of the game as the SF now. Of course teams are going to score against him since he is undersized, not strong enough, and just not used to playing the position at the NBA level. Thornton is a noted terrible defender and IT is undersized so of course PGs and SGs are weak positions defensively. This doesn't tell us anything we don't already know.

So you just made the point that IT/MT are ranked so poorly defending their counterparts, while ignoring that Reke is stuck not only guarding SF's with 3-6 inches and 20-30lbs on him, but is also trying to cover the two matador defenders we have at the 1 and 2.

But it's Reke's fault....

Notice you go out of your way to post this and blame Reke while I've yet to see you point out the defensive deficiencies of IT or MT.

You're trolling here, and a quick look above shows you were trolling in this thread before. Give it up.

Probably.

Mind you that the Celtics this year are 3.0 points per 100 possessions better on defense without Rondo this year, but you probably got it figured out.

P.S. in a shocking development Reke's defensive +/- was in the range of 1.5 to 2.0 pts BETTER with him on the court in the early season. Looked those up for one of my early statistical threds. It is indeed shocking that the number has flipped since we started playing him out of position at SF while playing stupidball.

Not to mention that if his guy gets by him he will almost always score since we do not have a shot blocker.

Just amazing. How many times does Reke have to leave his man to help on whoever just blew by IT or MT and then gets blamed for not closing on the shooter quick enough. Sure sometimes he's caught out of position, but usually he's helping down there because neither IT or MT can stop the point of attack.

What's more amazing is looking at our back court, and coming to the conclusion it's Reke fault. It's either direct trolling, or insane asylums allow internet access to patients.

This should not be a bash Tyreke thread. Tyreke is my boy. I want to see him succeed more than the next guy.
Yes. You want this thread not to be a bash Tyreke thread. And he is your boy.

And that is why you started this "Kings 3-0 without Tyreke" thread, pointed out his deficiencies, alleged lack of progress, and you want him out of your beloved Kings team for another player as soon as possible.

Yes, Tyreke is your boy and this thread is not meant to bash him.

Never said the one thing I wanted was him to be traded immediately. Said I wanted to see him improve or I would be willing to trade him for somebody if he doesn't. I want to see improvement first and foremost. I want him to recognize that just getting to the basket will not further his career, he is already elite at that. He needs to add other elements to his game. Have you seen any other elements that have been added to his game?

He doesn't need to work on getting to the basket. When he is playing in these glorified pick up games in the offseason he needs to be working on a pullup jumper. Russell Westbrook added elements to his game by year 3. Derrick Rose obviously did. DWade, LBJ, Kobe all changed their games. I wanna see Tyreke do the same, and if he is just not committed to doing so then he needs to be shipped out as a wake up call. Thats my point. Take from it what you want, and obviously you will, but I'm one of Rekes biggest supporters and my homie needs to wake up and change his game up.

So, next year is Reke's last year and then he's a restricted FA? We have the chance to match any contract, or just let him walk... right?

To me, this means we have until next years trade deadline to try to get Tyreke back to putting up some major stats. The only way this is going to happen is to put him at starting point guard, and run everything thru him, and basically make it the "Tyreke Evans Show". Milk him for everything he's worth. Right now, his value is a bit depressed, because he appears to be a player that doesn't have a "natural" position. One thing that we know he's not, is a small forward. I think that is overwhelmingly obvious. Why they continue to play him out of position is beyond me. We also know that Tyreke is about as far away from a "shooting" guard as you can get. We can call him an "off-guard", or a mutli-purpose guard that can drive like nobodies business, but can't hit the broad side of the barn from more than 9 feet out.

Ok, so the guy really doesn't have a natural position, and he doesn't really fit in our starting lineup, if we are putting our most "logical" lineup on the floor. Isaiah is a true point guard. He's a scoring point guard, but he's also more of a floor general. He seems to have a better court awareness as a PG than Reke has shown now. Still, we have until next years trade deadline to try to pump up the Reke hype factor around the rest of the league. We have to be aware of the fact that some team could deliberately punk us, try to force us to match a bad contract, and we don't want to feel backed into that position. I think if a trade that makes sense is available, I think you do it. Tyreke can drive to the hole in an amazing fashion. The way he just swoops around players, and contorts his body... He has legs and limbs flying every which way as he attempts an amazing reverse layup that ends up rimming out.

We need to put Reke back at the starting point guard position, and make that guy the Alpha and the Omega of our team up until the trade deadline, and send him away for the best possible return. The only other scenario that would work out ok, is if somehow nobody gives him that amazing an offer and we are able to keep him for peanuts. (I just don't see this happening though, because you know there is a GM out there that thinks he knows how to get the best out of Reke). I'm afraid of way overpaying a guy that we are already struggling to find an appropriate spot for him to get his minutes.
